Sure does. It seems that Rex and Sparano could be a good mix of both sides of the fence. I don't think there's any question the offense severely lacked discipline last year. Maybe Rex's personality just doesn't bode well for the offensive side of the ball.
I would not dispute that, either. It's just funny how we are after all talking about a guy who coached himself out of a job down in Miami having such a great approach to coaching, at the same time that approach is so different from Ryan's, who is still I think mostly supported by Jet fans (including me, fwiw). For example, Sparano doesn't seem like the type to say "let's go have a snack!" But... I have no problem with approaching the O roster somewaht differently this year. See what happens...
I'm pretty skeptical as to how much fist pumps will help us out as I don't think he has much of a resume as an OC. He does seem to be a bit of a micro manager though and I think that style probably fits better in a scenario with lesser responsibilities. I'm trying to keep a positive outlook.
Definitely a micro manager. From what I could tell during his HC tenure in Miami the players wanted to play for him because he is a hard-nosed football guy and because they could tell he was genuine. The downside was that sometimes he made practice/games not fun and players were afraid to take risks for fear of mistakes. I could definitely see Sparano helping the locker room in the way that people tried to say Tebow would.
Wow, an objective fin fan. By all means keep posting here if this is the way that you'll approach a rival team's site...
This makes me wonder if Rex and Tony can play off each other perfectly. Both guys will rip into you, but I think Rex has the ability to make things fun compared to Tony. Yeah I agree. From what I have seen from posts I have quoted or responded too, great poster.
Haha thanks. My only regret is that I have a Bears player embedded in my username lol If only I had waited another month...
Schottenheimer in St.Louis: I'll be buying a lot of stock in the Just for Men company as Brian will be making Fisher buy it by the case watching the shit we saw for years on the field. Fuck Schotty.
I'll give Sparano credit for the Dolphins having very few false start penalties but honestly, I would take a few more for an exchange in continuity and sound blocking which the Dolphins sorely lacked. Some players love Sparano and some dont. Those that dont think he is to anal and focuses on trivial BS.
Did he coach himself out of a job or make the best out of a sparsely talented roster? The Phins never gave up on him last year, winning enough games down the stretch to be out of the luck and RG3 races despite starting 0-7. Is the brewing disaster down there due to his coaching or Ireland's mismanagement?
I don't know that the roster was sparsely talented, especially if you are talking about the o-line. Jake Long, Mike Pouncey, and Vernon Carey are all former 1st round picks. Vernon is up there in years so I know he is a far cry from what he used to be, but he is still a talented guy. One I have heard many on this board would like to pick up. Incognito isn't bad. Colombo was horrid, which was the main source of the problems. That and Jake Long playing hurt all year. I know that Ireland does the shopping but since Sparano is an o-line guy I think he probably had a great deal of input into what he brought in.
It is of course inaccurate to suggest that coaches that are successful and effective get fired all the time.
Clever. Don't recall suggesting such a thing. However, your statement, "you can't change that he got fired" is very much implying that he got fired because hes not a good coach. Situations and variables vary from team to team.
