If you listen to him routinely, then you'd probably realize that he's not really a blowhard.

He even has a segment called "Colin Was Right, Colin Was Wrong" in which he recaps his weekly predictions and their accuracy. How many other analysts and experts do this?

I'm not trying to campaign for Cowherd; in fact, I often disagree with his opinions, especially when they lack substance pertaining to sport (i.e. he usually discusses sports in a social and economic context). But I get the feeling that people who are quick to bash him either don't listen to him enough routinely or are just turned-off by his personality.

Well, for round 2 of this thread I'm providing the inputs from the Vegas "smart guys" during an interview with Colin Cowherd this morning on XM radio.
Vegas has NE and GB as the best 2 teams by far...no surprise there. Apparently they are forecasting they will 7 point favorities or better on almost every game.
Most likely to upset a few contenders....Tampa Bay
Worst team in the league....Cleveland by far.
Most disappointing and unable to reach the playoffs...NYJ and Dallas

OK, so the common wisdom this year seems to be the Jets are a team in transition within a tough division, and some internal problems to sort out. I dont see it that way.
I think last year was a wake-up call for the Jets. This year we will duke it out for a playoff birth by getting back to fundamentals.
Yes we have a couple of worry beads in the OL but I think the new schemes by Tone will help tremendously.
I am feeling better and better about this years draft.

What I don't get is if everyone is predicting the Jets to have a poor season and not make the playoffs, how would they be the most disappointing? Wouldn't they just be fulfilling what everyone predicted?

Cowherd basically said last year that if Denver started Tebow they would lose every single game from then on out (not an exact quote but that was the gist).

He then practically predicted Tebow's demise most every week during the 7-1 run (he started relenting towards the end that they would win the division).

Even after Denver beat Pittsburgh to win their first playoff game in a
very long time , he said Tebow had proven absolutely nothing unless he made it to the AFC championship game (beating the patriots).

So he basically went from , "he will not win a game as a starter" to " He needs to get to the AFC championship game" .....its obviously personal with no objectivity whatsoever. If Denver had beaten the Patriots and gotten to the AFC championship game, Cowherd would have reset the expectation and declared Tebow a total failure unless he won the Superbowl.

I think only a Giants v Pats SB could be worse from my perspective.

I agree, I never want to see that match-up again.
