you guys are putting too much into this line combo thing. We dont have natural scorers so it doesnt fucking matter what combo theyre put in. Hagelin is on teh first line? Thats when I stopped looking at the line combos. Wake up guys.
Kreider was the best skater on the ice Bar-None at the end of the Sens series and for games 1 and 2 against the Caps. The more ice time that kid gets the better, he makes everyone else look like they're standing still out there.
wanna talk combos? Stepan is too fuckin slow to play with Kreider and callahan...by a fuckin calendar month, hes too slow... hagelin with gabs and Richards? Soooo Richards is the play-maker and Gabs the finisher. What role does Hagelin play? The grinder to get teh puck out of the corner? riiiiight. Agreed hes teh fastest guy out there. I said the other night hes twice teh player Hagelin is. Maybe 3 times. But Stepan cannot play on that line. Hes the 3rd slowest man in teh NHL. Hes faster than Scott and Brodeur, thats about it
I'm sorry to say I have to agree with this, you can fuck around with the lines all you like but if your top line is so disjointed then you need something very special from the second and probably the third as well to win consistently. People like to talk about how goalies win Stanley Cups and they do play a huge part, but just as importantly you need three lines that all score goals and this is where the Rangers have problems.
Breaking up Kreider-Stepan, who have been making things happen together since they were on the PP at the WJC, was amongst the dumbest things Torts has done all year. I'm glad he came to his senses at practice, those should have been the lines this entire series, but I have no confidence that he'll keep them that way for more than one period. I'm preparing for another 20 minutes of Boyle, 15 of Prust, and maybe 10 of Kreider en route to a 3-1 loss. I pray I'm wrong.
Total toss up game. Only blind faith convinces me Rangers have got this one. And it won't be easy, gonna be a 2-1 game Rangers absolutely need to score first and avoid dumb penalties. King Henrick has to play out of his mind
