I thoroughly enjoyed watching Stevie Johnson take Revis to school last year. I would love to see that become a great rivalry.

I think a deal will get done as he is pretty much our only "star" player (even though it will annoy me and damage the team to see them give franchise QB money to him)

That's debatable. I would love the 3 Super Bowls, but absolutely hate losing 2 to the Giants. I would take your run from 01-06. Would pass on your 07-11 since from a Jets fan perspective it still is 0 titles, with 2 SB losses to the Giants and one loss to what would be the Pats/Phins in the playoffs after crushing them 45-3. 01-06 you have my left arm :)

07-11 would be so painful if Jets were to have the same exact results as the Pats.

Ehh taking to school is exaggerating. He got the better of him in one game definitely, in the other it took 3 amazing catches and throws just to put up numbers on him. The one receiver that gave Revis real trouble game in and game out was Brandon Marshall. Everyone remembers Randy Moss' one hand catch, but besides that he was usually a non factor. Stevie definitely gave him more trouble than most receivers, but nothing close to what Marshall did at times.

jeezus does every f'ing thread on this board need to get derailed into some conversation about the Patriots SB record? enough already (30 threads ago).

  6. It stems from all these Patriot trolls feeling down in the dumps about their crappy defense being manhandled in the SB AGAIN...and having to come here to feel better about themselves.

When they go on their typical onslaught of the Jets & their history..many Jet fans response is the Patriots recent playoff choke jobs as well as spygate. Can't blame us really.

But this all stems from typical Patty cake bullies trying to boost their deflated ego.

I didn't see any Jets/Dolphins games. Marshall isn't particularly fast or quick, was it the physicality that bothered Revis?

Oh, and Marshall had 11 catches 159 yards 0 TDs. Stevie had 11 catches 159 yards 1 TD.

They let them fight and grab each other which was nice. Marshall had some push offs but they were letting Revis grab him also. Marshall just could box him out and was strong enough to go high enough to haul down the pass even when Revis would get up there or pull an arm away from the ball. It was fun to watch even on rushing plays they got into each other on the blocking

Are those overall stats or just on Revis stats? Revis definitely covered Marshall primarily where that wasn't the case against Stevie.

I would mute this video, overplayed and old song:

Not sure, I just took their stats from the games. I think Revis was on Stevie almost all of the time, but not totally sure.

Revis is awesome. Best player on the team for sure, as much as I am a Mangold fan (although ftr Mangold's ranking last year was greatly affected by his playing injured).

It is a pleasure to watch him play, and he is a huge reason why the Jets had the fifth best D in the league.

Now if the team could only score more points...

Me either. From my memory, he took on more WR's than usually last year, usually switching on an off receivers a lot or even playing some zone unfortunately  This was mostly because he didn't play many true #1 receivers last year, no offense to Stevie but Marshall,Andre, Moss, Fitz, Calvin, Vincent are better than Stevie currently.

sure but you should have 5 SBs and the chances are dwindling as Brady ages that you ever win another.

I don't think anyone would argue there. If the guy wasn't such a bonehead (drops the winning pass against the Jets against Revis in the endzone, drops the steelers game winning pass in endzone) he might have had a better year. Plus Gailey held him out after his Jets celebrations.

Why do All-Pro CB's so rarely win Super Bowls?

Yeah, gotta be smart with celebrations. If you are going to taunt, 1) know the rules so you don't get the penalty. 2) keep your game up after the taunt. Stevie didn't do either. Tone didn't do either in the Philly game either.

The Giants have three first round picks in their secondary. Their season long stats were not good mostly due to injuries early on. Their secondary played well in the playoffs.

    That covers it.

  20. Mel Blount, Willie Brown ,Darrel Green, Deion Sanders, Todd Lyght(2nd team 99), Doug Evans(2nd team 97)Ronde Barber(2nd team 2002), Ty Law, & Charles Woodson.

Many more when including teams that lost in the super bowl. Don’t tell me the corner position doesn’t have game day value.

Of the names listed 3 are likely the best to ever play who Revis positively compares to at this stage. Sanders,Blount & Brown. All were apart of special playoff/super bowl runs on multiple occassions.
