I've been talking about them around the water cooler myself. I doubt they are going to make the series. A shame, because I enjoyed them as characters -- and they were pivotal in Bran's direction, well being, and self-discovery.
depends, they can be brought into the story next season...GRRM probably told the show people about those two characters
They are really only necessary for the backstory of JS, which has not been brought up at all in the series. We have enough in the plot for it to make sense for Bran to do what he does in the next few books without Meera and Jojen, although I am disappointed by them not being in the show.
Meereen is a city. Meera is Jojen's sister. I don't know if the Reeds will be in this season, but there's no way they will be excluded from the series.
I fixed that typo, thanks. I still think they can get away without adding them in. Without spoilers, they basically just hang out with Bran. Sure, JoJen's green dreams are nice, but they aren't necessary for the story. All he needs is Osha to give him a hint, and he can go do what he does in book 3/5 without the Reeds. I like the characters, but it seems the show isn't going to introduce them, which seems like a decent idea. You have to cut characters somewhere.
After two read throughs I should have this down by now. I'm actually kind of thinking they replace both of them with Osha... it would be a severe turn from the books but I think she's viewed as a higher grade actress - Harry Potter and all... they probably want to keep her around and her role would be much more minor if she doesn't fill that role.
By far the worst episode. It was a lot of fun walking around with John Snow (idiot) and his new girlfriend that he doesn't sleep with. As for Danerys story and the house of the undead guys, star track called.."beam me up scottie." All in all just very boring. What happened to the strategy? Show is starting to get weak.
Even the weaker episodes are still good. Any scene with Arya is good....she is one of the most compelling characters and a pretty damn good little actress. Also, this episode had no Joffrey and very little Tyrion...the other great characters.
Weak? Last week was the best episode of the season. This week, while not as strong as usual, was still enjoyable. Just wait for the amount of shit that's about to hit the fan the last two episodes. Mind-blowing.
HBO's preview said 2 more episodes, but I think there's supposed to be 10 episodes, which would mean 3.
I'm usually critical and I thought last night's episode was good. The Kalissi (SP?) storyline is weak. The NightWatch storyline is weak. So I'm pretty sure the two children who were burned at the end were not the two that escaped. Either way the Winterfell infiltrator is screwed because he killed children which is sort of against the infiltration "rules".
I never noticed this thread before, mainly because I don't usually post in the BS section. But yeah I just joind ASOIAF.org and theres all kinds of talk about the Reeds and the speculation of when or if they'll be showing up. I have to agree that I really enjoy the interaction the Reeds bring to Bran's story. Jojen and his "Little Grandfather" wisdom he brings, and if Meera's not there I'm not sure how that will work for the show [SPOILER WARNING] due to the fact that it seems like there might be a love connection between her and Bran in the books. Also, there's a thread about Character Portrayal Ratings on there, for those of you who have read the books. The rating is based on your perception of the characters: Appearance - Voice - Personality - Here's my take on it, continued in the next post...
