If Mevi$ holds out this year, his contract automatically gets extended by another two years. Plus the Jets can't pay him because they are too tight against the cap this year and they can't release him because of the cap hit. Now, in 2013, he will hold out because the Jets would have cap room to either extend (which I think is doubtful) or trade him to a team that will meet his demands (more likely). The win-win for both is for him to hold out in 2013. The only thing that can happen this year is for him to pout despite the fact that everyone knows - his agents included - that the Jets can do absolutely nothing to fix it this year. If he wants to sit all year, that isn't going to change the facts and only serve to extend his contract. If he holds out and reports late, he runs the risk of playing hurt and lowering his value with a less than Mevi$ season.
you want me to provide fantasy stats to back it up? check this article from the top of this thread. Darrelle Revis plays his position better than any player in the league. There isn't a corner close to him, other backs were clearly on the same level of Peterson pre injury. Johnson's 2010 season was better than any AP has had so clearly there is a debate there, I didn't bring up the gap btw best and 2nd best corner but since you did who is on revis' level? NO ONE. he shuts down the best WRs in the game routinely, he rarely makes mistakes and rarely allows completions. No player plays their position better. Insetad of just "popping off" tell me how AP has no one close to him? I love people that call others out and they provide nothing to the discussion. I guess the statement " AP was far and away better than any other back in the league" closes that case:rofl2:
the first game vs. Buf Johnson got all his production in garbage time so I don't count that one but in the 2nd game he had his way w/ revis and that is the only time I have seen that in revis' career.
Arian Foster & Mojo Drew are both miles better than CJ and debatable with AP. Unless of course, I've traveled back in time to 2009.
I guess my point is, sorry I wasnt clear, is that WHO CARES; #24 is a fucking corner. Its like saying, we have the best Kicker, punter, Saftey, Guard in the NFL. Does than warrent that player the right to hold our for QB, OT, DE, OLB, MLB $....NO it dosent. He is the most overhyped, player in the NFL, well besides our BAckup QB
This team would be in a better place financially and possiably on the field with out #24 (we could spend the $ he WILL and HAS DEMANDED in high impact positions, CB is not one of them). Fuck #24 and #10 for that matter. Neither are leaders and both are overpayed and hyped.
it's easy to understand PatsfagTX's jealousy and envy regarding Darelle Revis. All you have to do is take a look at the pile of fecal matter occupying the Patri***t defensive backfield.... so awful that Billy the Cheat made the longest single reach of the 2012 draft to grab a 7th rounder/UDFA projected DB, Tavon Wilson in the middle of the second round
That's a different discussion and I'm not concerend about him holding out. I think the Jets had a plan in place, both sides knew what was coming and it will be worked out. If something changes I'll worry then but I'm not worried at the moment.
You just made my point. The Pats with that "fecal matter" secondary won yet another AFC Championship and once again played on the biggest stage in all of sports. The Jets with All-World Revis finished a mediocre 8-8 and watched the Pats success on TV.
I was thinking the same thing. I would like to see those same stats posted for those years to compare.
you just made my point Congratulations on your one man team (now turning 36) still overcompensating for now 6 crappy drafts since 2006 and the worst defense in the NFL. Looking forward to the Ryan "Leaf" Mallett error starting as soon as next season unless (LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER) Tammi's career comes to an end earlier via injury
That's interesting then. That basically furthers many Jet fans point that the Patriots are a 1 man team that when push comes to shove falls short b/c of crappy defense.Worst in the NFL actually.Remember when Belli-cheat used to be referred to as a defensive genius? Been a LONG time.
You, along with your Jets fans colleagues, would give your left arm if the Jets had a 10-year run like the Pats have had. 5 AFC Championships and 3 Super Bowl victories.
Did the Giants have a top rated CB the last several years? Nope, but they do have 2 Lombardi trophies in the last 4 years. CB's do not win championships, QB's do.
I look at that optimistically. To me, that means the Patriots run is close to ending & despite regular season success they have won nothing tangible since Mangini blew the whistle. Additionally, despite turning the corner as a football operation sometime around 1998, w/ many playoff runs..the Jets haven't yet had their 10 year run. That to me means the best is yet to come.
We aren't talking about the Giants. We're talking solely about Jets-Pats. If you want to make it about the Giants..they may not have an all star defensive backfield..but it is light year's better than the garbage the Pats have.
