I don't disagree with you. But my debate starts that the whole OLine was down last year. Moore was the only one playing as his typical self and with Hunter faltering, Moore looked like he regressed as well. Slaw hurt, Brick's down year, Mangold out 3 games, Moore covering for WH and Colon Baxter (mistype intended for fecal pun). So while Hunter isn't DWood, he's not as horrific as we make him out to be. He did pretty well filling infor Woody during the playoffs so I think his ability is there - I just think he was overwhelmed. Now a full offseason in a new system and the OLine healthy and a couple of solid backups such as RG notIII, Howard, and even an improved Impaler might be a good ~ great OLine. But this is speculation on both sides of the argument until we see them play on opening day.
Interesting. A restructure this late indicates that Tanny might still have some tricks up his sleeve. I know we were within 2 million or so of the cap before this, maybe this is for insurance so he can sign Leonhard and another RT to compete for the position. It also is a good thing considering Devito will probably see his role diminish as Coples develops.
Pretty sure this is sarcasm -- at least I hope it is. But if you read Cimini's article, he is actually suggesting this.
Stop worrying about the RT spot, with the switch to man from zone, the guy most here have given up on, Vald, will have to change his name from " Big Ugly" to " Vlad the inpailer"
Can we put the extra $ aside and use it to pay players to injure opposing QB's throughout the season?
yep.i am sure tanny held a gun to his head and made him sign it. or devito's agent thought it was a good deal since it guranteed him more money then if he got cut and had to sign on with another team. nah,had to be the gun right?
You saw how well that worked out with Scott last year..I guess we just don't see Tannenshit's genius in all of this.
i am not saying it's a good move or bad move. i am saying don't call it a screw job.they both had to agree on the restructure.he could have refused and taken his chances with what ever came next.
sounds like a good deal for Devito and the Jets. Not sure what the big objection some have to contract restructuring is all about. Perhaps the Jets are looking at making a FA signing and need some room. If so great. Devito has been a very solid player and if this puts some more benjamins in his wallet thats great.
It's a payout in exchange for a guaranteed roster spot. Same as Clemens, etc. Wish we'd extended de Vito though.
Devito is the man and is solid on the run. Only bad game I remember him having was at New England this year.
