No kidding! Give me a break fellas. Who give a flying toss about what happens in one mini camp drill. Christ, I love football too, but everything is so over reported and so over hyped it's getting me sick. Some of you need to watch baseball more and check back into football in late July. If baseball's not your bag, the NHL playoffs are going on too.
bwahaha.... seriously? The dude was their 1st rd pick and a lock to make the roster. You think they wanted use the time to focus on fringe players at the position to see who's worth keeping or not?
Maybe we'll say that he needs more rep. Maybe not. But if u need more reps, that doesn't mean u can't get a breather or use your entire drills around one players requirements. Someone who thinks like that is a jackass, not the coach. Also, when Rex says he's seen enough of what he wants to see from Coples, it means he already saw that Coples is on a different planet than all the other UDFAs playing out there. No need for a further evaluation. The off season is not two days long.
Well it's not like the reporters have super bowl previews to write. Media is like the hungry lion, just for the tiniest hint of a moving object as food to pounce on.
You completely over reacted to something and make a cimini like thread to share your chicken little thoughts. Don't pretend like you were 'just posting news'. I hope this gets bumped every time Coples make an impact play.
Chicken little should be the mascot around here. Oh no coples is a bust because he didn't scrimmage with a bunch of players who wont be in the nfl by the end of this year. Unless coples is the football equivalent of a scarecrow on the field he will play significant time this year. Then you all can freak out and worship a prospect we passed on. Until then id leave the development of a DL prospect to rex ryans judgement
The story isnt anything about Coples.. The story is about how the media RUNS to the computer to post any news Jets-related to cause controversy and make the team look bad in any way. It's bullshit.
before the new rookie CBA when did 1st round picks typically turn up to participate in drills? I seem to recall a lot holding out for ages waiting until their deals got done.
holdouts came during TC. The players were expected to do the rookie minicamps and OTA's throughout the offseason without a contract because I don't believe any of them involve actual contact. For reasons I never began to understand, teams hardly ever even began negotiations with rookies until about 10-12 days before the start of camp. It was an extreme rarity to see a top round pick signed before July in the past. Thats when negotiations could become an issue if there was a sticking point that took a few extra days to iron out. Now we have guys signing before a week's up. Count me in favor of it.
I demand a press conference!!!! Haha at first I saw the title and thought he was holding out for a contract. I was like, "huh?" That's why you don't take every little thing on twitter as fact or as meaningful in the least. I trust our coaching staff much more than a bunch of clowns on the internet that think they know everything when they're really just looking for drama.
Were any other rookies held out of drills? Rex's reason makes perfect sense unless Coples was the only one held out. Then it's more suspicious.
As you can see in the original post I said "I dont know if this means much". And it doesnt mean much. Everybody has questioned Coples motor and things didnt start off on the best note. I was just pointing that out, you dudes need to relax. I never said Coples was going to be a bust.
