While Conley sucked at average he was ranked 3rd in the NFL at pinning opponents in side the 20

Punting is all about field position. If you're constantly punting from midfield, your average is going to suffer.

I think he means Australia like what we did with Ben Graham awhile ago whose now a damn good punter for the Cards. Punters seem to suck with the Jets and then become boomers on other teams, may be Westhoff's only flaw.

Remember who was first in that category in 2011? Weatherford was... as a Jet.

I still think we need some new faces to "compete" for the job.

We are trying out the kicker from Montana Brody Mcknight, who was also the punter. Maybe they are looking at him for the punter spot

    Kluwe might get cut

I always loved the idea of having 1 guy punt and kick ... gives you 1 extra roster spot

Weatherford's clutch punts in the Super Bowl were key.

Why did we let him go...

Mostly because when we needed him in our super bowl run he choked.

Which is a bummer because they are two of the most important ingredients in the kicking game...

...Not sure you can lay this on the special teams coach. he doesn't buy the groceries...

TJ Conley's has a good chicken wing special on Thursday nights, I'll give them that. But Conley is not a great punter. Somewhat more predictable than Weatherford though if the averages are worse. I dunno what is more important... to know what exactly you will get with a punter or to expect the occasional mistakes?
