He played the left end in our 34 front. This is exactly the same position that coples was drafted for. Not sure why you think the play different positions. Looks like we have DeVito and Dixon as primary backups at end for now.
Really liked this guy and hope we bring him back. Keep him around until we see if our new 1st round draft pick can actually play.
Where did this guy come from? He looks huge. Is DeVito the primary backup now? Isn't there some health concerns with him?
That's my guess. I think Ropati has been around long enough where he's a decent depth player but he's not going to get much better at 27 years old. Only way he was going to make the team was if one of the other linemen suffered a serious injury in camp. Coples's presence means someone else is gone, and this clears more reps for him. Plus, the Jets probably want to do him a solid and let him catch on elsewhere.
He's been on the Jets for a few years. They developed him for a year or 2, then expected big things from him in 2010 before he got hurt in camp. He wasn't bad last year, but he's certainly replaceable.
I've seen the name before the last couple years on the Jets roster, but where did he come from? Was he an UDFA? I dont remember him in the draft at all.
Udfa from Washington State. Jets always liked him because of his size, which makes sense since he is HUGE. You also could have just googled it
Cutting Eric Smith would make this offseason a success in my book. Not having to see him struggle to try and catch up to people speeding pass him like the little engine that can't would be an absolute gift.
My question is.... Why wasn't this Mike DeVito? In all fairness, not much difference between the two talent wise; except for the extra 2 million this year. I mean, is the difference between the two that much?
Are you serious??? Dude you know how many plays Devito makes a game? He is constantly in on tackles and seems like hes always in the backfield at least once a game tackling for a loss.
