He had an impact in ALL of them. Nearly flawless at Cincy, had 3 incompletions, 2 were drops. #s at SD were not great but he made 3-4 huge 3rd down conversions including buying time and making a great throw on the run on a 3rd and G to give the jets their first lead tough 1st half at Indy '10 WC rd but led GW TD in final minute after Peyton left him too much time. Badly outplayed the best QB of this generation on Brady's homefield in the '10 div rd. No one is saying Sanchez is great or a HOF caliber QB but he's also not a bad QB. Bad QBs don't go to back to back title games, even the best defenses need quality QB play and as good as our D was it wasn't great.
it pretty comes down to qb play. They have brady. One of the best to play the game. The NFL is a passing league and having a great qb at the helm masks many problems. So when he's gone then we can see how great their drafts are. I think Sanchez has a lot of potential and I truly believe he will have a great season for us this season.
That's about what I've gathered. Oh and Coples was also playing out of position when he loafed and still outproduced Jones.
You do know he had a very forgettable run as HC previous to coaching the Pats that he was fired from, right. Speaking of fired, he was on the verge of getting the boot in NE until one very unfortunate hit on Bledsoe. We'll see what happens post-Brady.
I don't think he was on the verge of being fired 18 games into his NE career after having well respected defensive players personally request him to the owner.
There were already rumblings about his job security which went away as soon as Brady came in and they started winning.
I am honestly not sure why I'm wasting my time as you have proven time and time again in the past that you are completely ignorant of any truths regarding Sanchez, but here it goes... Sanchez vs. Patriots Defense DOES NOT EQUAL Brady versus Jets Defense I know this isn't the main point of the thread but this, in conjunction with your other asinine views of Sanchez are clearly an attempt to justify the Jets recent draft history. Bad QB's not only can make championship games, they can win SB's. The Jets defensive success can not be attributed to Sanchez. If you want to argue that the Jets have been successful due to drafting good defense, that's one thing; but you are fighting a losing battle by using Sanchez as evidence of good Jets drafting.
Our D wasn't great, it was very good. Sanchez still had to face a D on the ROAD that held his O to 3 pts a month earlier. You can make all the excuses you want but Sanchez outplayed Brady in that game. When has a BAD QB won a SB? bad QBs can make a deep run w/ a team from time to time but twice? in back to back seasons? not happening. The jets have drafted well, Sanchez factors in to that as well. He's not great and may never be great but he makes plays to win games. You don't win 4 road playoff games beating the 2 hottest teams in the league in the div rd each year w/o quality QB play. I respect the Pats organization more than any in the league, I think Brady is by far the best QB of his generation but they haven't drafted well, the Jets have drafted better and it is a major reason that the jets have advanced further 2 of the last 3 years(including whipping the Pats at NE in '10) despite a huge disadvantage at QB.
Stated often by Jets fans, but is it true or is it Belichick hate? Go back and look at the results, I think they have gotten better since Pioli left in Jan 2009. The Pats drafts in 2006-2008 don't look good at all. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nwe/draft.htm
Where the fuck are these pats and bills fans coming from? It's like they came out of the woodwork this week to brag about how our draft picks are busts
Well all their picks are clearly going to be superstars in the league so need to discuss them on their board, so they come here to discuss our terrible picks that have not shot at seeing a meaningful snap in the NFL.
In Cleveland he took a couple of years to build his program (pre-FA days it took longer) and turned them into a playoff team and won coach of the year. The next year the owner announced they were leaving and it became an impossible situation. It's nice to say he was "on the verge of getting fired" but that's not a statement rooted in any reality. But regardless, I don't see how it's a black mark on his record that the team started doing better when the QB he drafted and developed started playing.
He took over in Cle after Cle was in the AFC title game 3 of the previous 4 years, it took him until his 4th year to make the playoffs as a WC team in 1994 where they beat NE then got crushed by an avearge Pitt team in the div rd. It did take longer in those days but 4 years was a LONG time. Parcells had the Giants in the playoffs in year 2 then later the Pats in year 2, Gibbs won the SB in year 2, Bill Walsh won the SB in year 3, heck bruce Coslet led the Jets to the playoffs in year 2. To be fair the team was aging and needed to be rebuilt but it did take 4 years to get back to the playoffs and as far as the Baltimore excuse, they were 4-5 when Modell announced they were leaving for Baltimore. BB w/ Tom Brady(10+ seasons): 124-35, 78% 9 playoff apps 9 div titles 5 AFC titles 3 SB titles 16-6 postseason record missed playoffs once 9-7 was worst record BB w/o Tom Brady(7+ seasons): 51-62, 45% 1 playoff app 1 playoff win 1-1 playoff record zero div titles zero title game apps zero SB apps or wins missed playoffs 6 of 7 seasons losing record 5 of 7 seasons BB would be a DC somewhere today if Brady didn't rescue his career. I think BB has developed into a great HC but he never would have had that chance if Brady didn't save him.
There aren't that many HOF head coaches that have won with multiple QBs. Walsh, Noll and Lombardi to name a few. Brady certainly gave Bellichick a QB he could rely on but Brady also grew into one of the best QBs of all time thanks to Bellichick.
Spikes and Chung are very good for the Patriots D. They are both reliable tacklers and have a nose for the ball. Both were out for fairly large portions of last season and as soon as they were back in the lineup, the D got better. I don't know if they would start on the Jets but they are certainly above average players. I think both Vollmer and Solder are both very good. Vollmer seems to be a little fragile. Last year was Solder's rookie season and he was pretty damm good but let's see how he does as the starting LT. I do think he'll do well but it's "Time to take the kid gloves off".
some guys never get the chance to win w/ multiple QBs like Bill Walsh but Parcells won w/ 2 different QBs and made a 3rd SB w/ another QB, Gibbs won 3 w/ 3 different QBs, Shula made SBs w/ 4 different QBs, Holmgren made 3 w/ 2 different QBs, Noll never made a SB w/ Bradshaw but he did make a title game w/ Mark Malone while BB has never reached a title game w/o Brady. Does BB deserve some credit for Brady? I'm sure he does but Brady deserves most of the credit for turning around BB's HC career. If not for Brady BB would be a DC somewhere today and we would never have seen NE win a SB.
Remind me again, who drafted and developed Brady? You can jerk-off to the notion of some hypothetical universe where Brady never plays and Belichick isn't anything, but eventually you're gonna have to face reality. Brady did play, they went on to win a shit ton of games, and as a result Belichick will go down as one of the greatest football minds the NFL has ever seen.
I was sort of impressed with Sanchez during the playoffs in the 1st two years where he seemed to step up pretty nicely and make some pretty clutch plays. He seemed to have that quality you'd want in a championship QB. I kept believing that last year until it became clear he had taken a huge step back. By the end he was terrible. I think you can blame the OC and the rest of the team only so much. Sanchez really looked terrible by years end. Let see what happens this year. I, of course, as a Patriots fan am waiting for Sanchez to have a bad stretch and to hear the call for Teeeebow, Teebow ring through out the Meadowlands. :rofl2:
