And the Patriots Fans always forget about this... I mean it doesn't help either, when you have Rex randomly praising Belicheat. -_-
Casserly: "Okay, let me ask you this now... look me in the eye now. If I'm grading every play on your effort, what grade do you give yourself this year?" Coples: "This year... I'd give myself a C" Casserly: "a C?" Coples "Yeah" Casserly: "so we could be better at that, couldn't we?" Coples: "Yeah, exactly" http://www.stlouisrams.com/media-ce...s-on-Set/976c98c5-a417-4691-8ea1-66889b2f2fc0 go to 2:57 for the relevant quote
he later said the following: "Yes, definitely I meant production and not effort, the coaches have told me they thought I had a good season. I think the other stuff is all from the media overall, but the coaches have told me that I've done well and they think I'll make a big impact in the NFL. "Coaches said they see the talent and they liked what they saw. They gave me some things to work on and pointers on what I can do to improve. I just take it for what it is, and at the end of the day I'm just preparing to help my NFL team next season."
Do you really think someone would just go ahead and tell lies to the media. Well thats just darn right crazy.
I think I'd rather have a guy who played out of position and wasn't even trying who racked up 7.5 sacks and 15 tackles for loss than a guy trying his hardest while playing his natural position and picking up 4.5 sacks. It's going to be awesome when Rex puts him back into what's closer to his natural position and he maybe tries once and a while.
I think he was the 150th ranked DB. Ebner took only 3 snaps on defense for Ohio State, and played mostly special teams. The Pats picked him on the recommendation of Mike Vrabel. Like the dude the Jets signed, Ebner was a rugby player for 2 years before walking on at Ohio State. Belichik is hoping to mold him the way they were able to mold Steven Neal, who was a wrestler in college.
Actually, as a Bills fan, I hope he meant performance. A Jet fan should hope he meant effort. That would actually explain his play.
Sanchez has the most 4th-quarter comebacks since he's been in the league, has tied the record for most road playoff wins in NFL history, is only one of two QBs to ever reach the AFCC game both of his first two years (Big Ben), and has one of the highest passer ratings in playoff history. I'm not saying he's an elite QB or anything, but I'd consider him an above-average starter, which, in my opinion, makes him a "net gain". Connor is staying on the team. Ryan hand-picked him, no way is he going anywhere. he graded out as the 7th-best blocking FB in the NFL last season and we got him at a great value. Keller is one of the better receiving TEs in the league and our go-to target on 3rd down. There are others I haven't mentioned (such as Brad Smith), I was just giving a few examples. But, while I think the majority of the Patriots' picks suck, they have made some pretty decent picks the last few years. However, the Jets have still found more and better value with fewer picks.
The sole reason for the Patriots success despite poor drafting is Tom Brady. The sole reason the Patriots haven't won a Super Bowl since 2004 is Spygate. Tom Brady covers up ALOT of warts on that team. Switch Brady with Sanchez and the Jets are Super Bowl champs in 2009 and 2010 and the Patriots are 8-8. Spygate covered up ALOT of warts on those Super Bowl teams. When you know the play coming, it is easy to play great defense and be called a defensive genius.
The guy is average to below average. Are you saying that it is ok to give up multiple draft picks to pick a QB in the top 5, only to have him be average?
No it's not okay, but I don't see him as average, I see him as above-average with the potential to be elite. IDGAF what other Jets fans say, I have trust in Sanchez and I have trust in our team.
Seriously, had Coples come out last year, he is probably a top 5 pick. He comes back for the 2011 season and less than a month before the season starts his coach is fired and a third of the starters suspended. All this because those "moron" teammates couldn't keep their receipts or follow the rules. But Coples is the lazy one because he followed the rules and kept his receipts? Not for nothing, Coples didn't go to UNC to get a degree. He went to play football and hopefully develop into an NFL player. He commits to coming back his senior year, when the easy thing to do is cash out as junior. It isn't his fault that everything came crashing down his senior year and you know what? If I was him, I probably would have coasted as well and not jeopardize a blown ACL for teammates and a University that let me down. Amazing how a guy who kept up his end of the bargain by coming back his senior year is now lazy and selfish. I would love to see that spotlight placed on the AD, Head coach and players who were all so perfectly motivated that they took the easy way out and cheated.
Great points. Unfortunately, the division rival fans will see only what they want to see (similar to how jets fans will see what they want to see) about our draft class. The fact of the matter is nobody can judge these players as a bust or great value until we see them play.
If the Jets beat the Phins AT HOME in the last game of the season, Matt Cassel takes the Pats to the playoffs. It really sucked being a Jets fan that day. Kinda sucks going 11-5 and missing the playoffs.
Yeah, and if Dennard doesn't smoke pot he's a 1st rounder. And if Janoris Jenkins refrained from sticking his penis in a different woman every other day (and never smoked weed) he gets taken in the top 10. What's your point? No. Coples is lazy because he decided not to give a damn. Nobody is saying he is at fault for what happened at UNC. We are saying he is at fault for throwing in the towel. What dont you understand about that? Is it ok for NFL players not to play hard when their team isn't winning? Is it ok for NFL players to not give effort in the 4th quarter when they are losing by 20? Is it ok for NFL players not to play when there's 4 games left in the season and you're already out of the playoffs?
No, its if the Pats won one more game, including the Jets at HOME they would have made the playoffs. Funny, because once the Jets were out of the playoff race mid 1st half, most Jets fans were fine not winning. I personally remember thinking Mia is going nowhere in the playoffs because Baltimore is gonna tear them apart defensively, I know Chad Pennignton. It sucked being a Jets fan the previous losses at SEA, at SF, and at OAK. The one you were referncing was ehh since a W doesn't mean they make the playoffs anyways. Just like this year , the MIA loss was ehh in the grand scheme of things
Link Please....Do you really mean to intimate that Brady, the 6th rounder was better than Bledsoe ? So, your post means that the hit on Bledsoe magically prepared Brady? is that it? So tell me why my contention that they altered the offense to suit the player and stuck with a winning formula, is incorrect.. Sanchez.... 9 4th qtr comebacks. 11 game winning drives. He's looked okay, as a starter for a bad OC. And Brady rode Pine till Bledsoe got hurt. All Facts. And Greg McElroy, wins at least 11 in the NE offense. Fact. Blow Yourself.
Good for you knowing a JAG QB personally. I'm just pissed to the day that the Jets were incapable of beating the Phins at HOME that day.
