These are all developmental players, which is why they should be available in rounds 6-7. I think they all have a good chance to produce at the next level. Chris Greenwood, CB, Albion 6'1" 193lbs 4.41 40 1.58 10-yd shuttle 6.99 3-cone 43" vertical 19 reps bench Jeff Adams, OT, Columbia 6'6" 306lbs 5.13 40 1.72 10-yd shuttle 7.27 3-cone 34" vertical 19 reps bench DeShawn Shead, FS, Portland St 6'1" 220lbs 4.53 40 1.59 10-yd shuttle 6.76 3-cone 38" vertical 24 reps bench Louis Nzegwu, OLB, Wisconsin 6'4" 254lbs 4.6 40 1.59 10-yd shuttle 6.84 3-cone 41" vertical 22 reps bench
Good call on Ihenacho. He didn't impress at the Combine but made up for it at his Pro-Day with a 4.51 and 39.5" vertical. He's another player who could add some speed to ST and compete for a role on D.
I like Adams a lot.. if he's there in the 6th it could be a solid pick. If not, I wouldn't be surprised to see us grab Long. Sparano might not be able to resist, and I don't blame him.
Wanted Frank Alexander but hes gone. Phillip Thomas, Chris Rainey, if Ronnell Lewis if he somehow slips, maybe Najee Goode. I like Jeff Adams as well
D'Anton Lynn, CB/S, Penn State Worked out at the combine despite a torn calf muscle: 6'0, 206 4.72 40 31.5 inch vertical 17 reps bench Not an elite athlete but a three year starter at corner who can definitely stick with tight ends and was solid against the run. Technically sound. Sure tackler. His dad is our RB coach. Will probably have to play safety to stick in the NFL, and I think he can. Came into college as a safety.
This is who I put in my original pre-draft mock: Rd 5 (154) – Tommy Streeter (WR, Miami) Rd 6 (187) – Danny Trevathan (OLB, Kentucky) Rd 6 (202) – Ryan Miller (G, Colorado) Rd 6 (203) – Joe Long, (OT Wayne State) Rd 7 (232) – Greg Childs (WR Arkansas) Rd 7 (242) – Vontaze Burfict (ILB, Arizona State) Rd 7 (244) - Matt Merletti (S, North Carolina) All are still there and I would still be happy with any of them. Would also like Vick Ballard.
To be fair, we actually need a punter in the worst way. The difference between Weatherford (may he RIP) and our punter last year (he doesn't deserve a name) was extremely large.
I could be wrong (I usually am) but I'm pretty sure Tanny said that we probably wouldn't be addressing the OL until today. Shows his faith in the guys we have on the roster, but you can never have too many bodies... especially if we can pick up Long's brother. Sparano will be able to cut diamonds with his boner if we do.
Burfictz, Gerrard Robinson, and Terrance Ganaway are all quite high on my wishlist for today. Robinson is easily my favorite realistic pick remaining by far, hope he makes it to our 6th
This. We walk away from today with Burfict and Ganaway and we won the draft. Throw in a punter to compete with T.J. Conley and an offensive lineman for camp and you've got a great third day.
5 more picks... you gotta figure at least one will pan out, right? My guess: S Adams/Long Burfict RB TE or P
I woulndnt mind going with some of those character issue guys with tons of talent...and no I dont mean Burfict. Phillip Thomas,Cliff Harris come to mind. Or a small school guy. Trevor Coston, Joe Long and Adrian Hamilton come to mind. I like Josh Bush from Wake Forest also.
