I don't pretend to be an expert on college players. And maybe the Jets find a way to keep the current LB corps as is for another year and get a pass rush from the DL. If so, fine. But I remain concerned about the age and lack of speed at LB. I get that Scott and Pace were probably not going anywhere this year, but thought ROLB was a position that could defnitely be upgraded. Given the pressing needs at RT, #2 wideout, and some other second tier issues on O, and don't forget safety, the Jets are setting themselves up next year to have to get TWO LB's MINIMUM, not to mention a high pick going to OG. And that's assuming they are not in the market for a starting Qb, which the odds are they will be.

Like I said, I just didn't see the DL as one of the parts of the team in great need of attention.

"Need is a terrible talent evaluator"

If you consistently take the best player available, eventually you will have a very talented and deep team. But you have to start somewhere and you can't trade away half your picks to move up.

If our d-line can become dominant it can help both the linebackers and the safeties. Coples alone could help take away some of those passing lanes over the middle with his huge wingspan.

We were never going to address every need this offseason.

As you know I AM very concerned about our RT position, but I love sticking with a BPA approach in the draft and I love trying to make our d-line a strength.

Another thing - Tom Brady gets way more flustered by interior pressure than guys flying off the edges. If we can get an interior pass rush it will be much more effective against him than an OLB flying off the edge IMO.

Issue here is that people will always compare a DE to Gholston...Cant win with most Jets fans in a draft. But Coples is a pick most had going in top 10 for the past few months and a pick that would not have survived by the time we chose.

Honestly, who else was out there that was better? Chandler Jones? Come on, Coples is a solid pick

How about this: I've been told that if Quinton Coples was gone by #Jets' pick, they would have selected Stanford OL David DeCastro. #nyj

    Interseting...

Right, I'm sure you were all over Jones when he was still projected as a 2/3 rounder? What exactly was it about him that would have made him a better pick than Coples??
