So much talent in this draft left over from the first. I could see us trading down in the second, if not Sanu, Upshaw, Jeffery, Massie, and Tru Johnson should be our targets.
I really disagree. I think we need to go target at least 2 of these guys and go get them. We have a chance to solve every last one of our starting position holes from Day 1 of this year right now. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and can't be passed up imo. Pure raw aggression for talent addition.
If Upshaw is within two picks or so, I could see us trading our 5th and 6th to get him (if that does it). If not, we're either waiting or trading down. There is so much talent left over. What I'm hoping for is this: Jets draft Sanu at 47, trade back up in the second with our 3rd, next years 4th, a 5th, and 6th for someone who falls, possibly someone like Lamar Miller, Tru Johnson, or Mike Adams. This is what I believe might happen: The Jets trade up with the Rams, Chiefs, or Seattle to pick up either Courtney Upshaw or Alshon Jeffery.
I posted in another thread that I'm leaning towards not moving up. Hill is probably the only player that I would be 100% okay with breaking that mentality. I still stand by him being the 3rd best receiver prospect in this draft behind Blackmon and Floyd. Other than that, just let the board come to us. Other than Hill, Jeffrey or Upshaw would be the two guys I'm crossing my fingers for. Sanu would be nice as well.
Quick draft order 1. OT/OG Cordy Glenn 2. OG Amini Silatolu 3. OLB Courtney Upshaw 4. WR Stephen Hill 5. OT Bobby Massie 6. OT Jonathan Martin 7. WR Reuben Randle 8. WR Alshon Jeffery 9. OLB Andre Branch 10. OLB Vinny Curry 11. OT Mitchell Schwartz 12. RB Lamar Miller 13. OT Mike Adams 14. DB Trumaine Johnson 15. WR Mohamed Sanu
I'm just putting a line through Cordy at this point. Way too many guys that are definitely, definitely going to be laying around for a while. Upshaw is a must. It all starts with Upshaw. If he somehow gets picked before it becomes viable it'll be heartbreaking but I still want to go after Hill for sure right after. He looks perfect for us as so many have said. He looks like he damn well might be perfect for anybody before it's all over. By the time Glenn and Upshaw are off the board and we get Hill, the price will surely be quite reasonable. We'll definitely have resources left over to go after yet another one of these guys without jeopardizing much of anything at all. It's the fucking twilight zone.
If all we pull up out of the 2nd and 3rd round is a non-premium WR, and a solid RT/ANOTHER HB....I'll literally jump off a bridge.
I'm betting Tanny burns a 6th and a 7th to move up two places for the BPA at OLB/WR. I think Martin/Glenn/Upshaw will be long gone. Alshon Jeffery?
From Walt football Here are the top 2012 NFL Draft Prospects still available per the consensus draft board: 21. Cordy Glenn, G/OT, Georgia 26. Courtney Upshaw, DE/OLB, Alabama 28. Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford 29. Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State 31. Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford 33. Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech 34. Andre Branch, DE, Clemson 35. Devon Still, DT, Penn State 36. Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin 37. Lavonte David, OLB, Nebraska 38. Kendall Reyes, DT, Connecticut 39. Amini Silatolu, G/OT, Midwestern State 41. Rueben Randle, WR, LSU 46. Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall 47. Bobby Massie, OT, Ole Miss 48. Mychal Kendricks, ILB, California 49. Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina 50. Derek Wolfe, DT, Cincinnati lot of good players there.
Jets needs: WR2, S, OG, OT, OLB, RB, ILB I think we package some picks to get back into the fourth or the end of the third, but at this point why would we blow any picks to move up a couple of spots. We could use help all over. Keep the BPA roll goin.
I would really love one of these six guys (not in this order): C. Upshaw A. Branch S. Hill A. Jeffery J. Martin C. Glenn If one of them starts slipping (Upshaw? Jeffery?), I could even imagine us grabbing two of them: This would be a dream come true.
Sanu is perfect for this team, he's a great WR, I wouldn't underrate him if I were you. If we got Adams and Sanu I'd be extremely happy. Our #2 WR gets filled and our OLine becomes solidified which opens up the run game.
But we have #2 already. I think Hill looks like a legit #1 Jeffery and Randle are no slouches either. It's not that I underrate Sanu. I liked him. I just saw a lot of other guys I liked too at the same position. They're all over the place. Even if he is a standout we could easily get someone almost as good as him anytime around him and potentially well after. I just don't see any value in making Sanu the centerpiece of day 2 during THIS draft. Before last night Sanu looked like a pretty nice bounty in many situations. Today though, he's looking a little plain. Also I think there's a great chance that he'll make it well into the 3rd with the way this is setting up. He would mean a lot more to us if he came in on the undercard than on the top of the bill.
Did anyone else notice how some of those trades were happening for last night? Both the Jags/Bucs trade and the Rams/Cowboys trade were way under value by the chart. Our late round picks may be worth more than people are traditionally valuing them as, so I wouldn't be shocked if we figure out a way to move up to the top of the second if not get another 2nd too.
