Ah forgot about him. While I dont want him called, I doubt its even an issue, we have 2 NTs on the roster, I doubt we draft another one.

Too much reading Charlie Casserly, not enough watching Upshaw play would be my guess.

Foe me it's Quinton Coples. Nothing scares me more than talent who's desire seems to run hot and cold. Give me a guy that loves football instead.

He's a quality prospect but a flat value. That's just my opinion. You take him and he's going to play somewhere in 3-4, maybe even as a rotational player, but he's unlikely to be a star anywhere because Rex Ryan's defense doesn't create the opportunities for a LB to be a star.

If it did then Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas would have had better years since '09 and David Harris would be an obvious pro bowl choice every year instead of getting passed over.

If the Jets want an edge-rushing star out of this draft all of that is going to have to come from the player. He's going to have to be a pass-rushing demon who cannot be contained by an NFL tackle one-on-one.

Upshaw just isn't that kind of guy. If you put him in a really tight system where the culture promotes the LB's as the stars, like the Steelers, then he has a shot at being a star. For us he will be Brian Thomas and Calvin Pace 2.0 and really that;s not good enough to spend the 16 pick on.

Ingram, BTW, is not that edge rusher either. He does have some star power potential inside though, where he will be gap rushing against guards who will have trouble with him one on one. 8 or 9 sacks out of an ILB is real pressure. You have to get to 13 or 14 outside to have that effect.

When I read about Coples, it's like hearing the Gholston story all over again, but from someone with more natural talent.

    Yeah, why?

And I don't want to see Ingram's name.

Haha. The ingram bashing from a clemson fan is surprising... he dominated clemson and a lot of teams in the SEC... he is a play maker and a high motor guy. If Rex thinks he can get it done in the NFL i think i trust him. Not sure if i see any of the pass rushers we could draft as big time playmakers though.

It's crazy to think the draft is such a scientific process that you can say someone would be a bad choice at one slot and okay five slots later. If he's okay at 21 he's okay at 16.

^This exactly. People need to get over the slotting value within a round. If your team is high on a player, then they take him when they can.

I love the way no Jets fan wants Barron but it seems like every NFL team covets him and he will more then likely be a top 10 pick, at worst top 15.

The only guys I would be truely disappointed with would be Poe, Adams, Glenn

Man Bradway, I usually agree with your assessments, but this time we are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

I think Perry is the best OLB pass rusher in the draft and would be thrilled if he was the pick.

I agree but I think the notion is that the Jets would get player X five spots later AND another draft pick.

Every time I look at Perry closer he looks more and more like a 4-3 DE that is going to go someplace like Chicago or Green Bay and prosper. That's partly because I'm inclined that way after reading a bit early on about Perry discouraging 3-4 talk before his agents stopped that.

I guess if Rex thought Perry was the absolute best and he'd be a great edge rusher I'd be fine with it but in the absence of that I see him as a 4-3 player and the Jets aren't going 4-3.

The one name I do not want to hear is Chandler Jones. Talk about getting hyped because of his family when his production on the field at Syracuse was no where close to being that of fellow alum Dwight Freeney, who is a beast off the edge. Truthfully, the best player on that Syracuse defense was Phillip Thomas and he is a pretty good safety but his character issues and combine have him graded as a late fifth or sixth round draft
pick that would look good in green and white.

Courtney Upshaw, Whitney Mercilus, Michael Floyd, Mark Barron, and David DeCastro are the only players I will be happy with the JETS selecting with the 16th pick.

    Fair enough.

Just every time I watch the game film I see the same thing: a big, athletic guy with great burst, a high motor, an array of rush moves with a nose for the football.

I think Rex could make this guy a handful for any OLine to handle.

With that being said, I don't think the Jets take him. They didn't even bring him in for a visit.

the hate on Ingram because of his measurables is crazy

    Ingram
    Weight: 264
    Height: 6'1"
    Arm Length:31.5"

    Dwight Freeney
    Weight: 266
    Height: 6'1"
    Arm Length: 33"

you think if Freeney's arm were 1.5" shorter he'd suck? NO. Also ask Terrel Suggs how hindered he feels with 32" arm length. I'd love Ingram.

I don't want to hear Poe or an OL
