I could live with that draft. Wouldn't be my first choice for our first rounder but it might end up being the best thing for us.
Nobody wants their team to draft an OL. It is not sexy or fun, but having a strong OL wins games. So you don't get that 2 minute rush during the draft in April. Instead, you protect the QB,run the ball, and win games from September-December when it matters. Everybody wants to draft skill players - Richardson, Floyd - but I'd be thrilled with Reiff or DeCastro or a pass rush prospect like Ingram or Jones.
Drafting an OL brings us back to what made us successful in the first place offensively: a dominant OL that won the point of attack. That's why our ground and pound was effective. Improving the OL will make the RBs look better. Jets need to draft OL, WR, RB, S, OLB in the first 3 rounds. I'd be surprised if we drafted someone not playing those 5 positions in the first 3 rounds.
I'd go with DeCastro over Rieff but all in all I'd be thrilled if that was our day 1 and 2. I think Rieff would be a solid pick and would help the team day 1 while if we go with a skill position we might have to wait a year or 2 for that production to actually show up.
Although many have Ronnell as a 2nd round prospect, I could easily see him being taken in the third round.
He's a solid draft pick in the 3rd, plus with Pace and Thomas gone next year the Jets would have a solid replacement.
