I don't think it would be worth it for our team unless he becomes a top 3 or 4 RB in the league. And the odds of that are not strong enough. We have too much to solve before we worry about picking another back.

I'm not the first here on TGG to state that Richardson would be the best defensive pick Tanny could make.

There's not a SINGLE sure fire OLB/pass rusher in the draft (last year there were 3). There's ONE safety, and he may go as early as 6.

If you want to help your D, then keep your O on the field.

Trent or a player opposite Holmes is the only way to do that. But are we pass first or run first?

    Richardson.

I'd trade Revis for Minnesota's 1 and their 1 next year.
I know the cap hit would be brutal, but it could be worked out.
Minny needs a shutdown cb to deal with Johnson, Marshall, and the Packers... why not get the best?

    Jets then take:
    3. Richardson
    16. Ingram/Jones/Kirkpatrick
    47. Jeffery/Jenkins (would be awesome)
    77. Irvin/Taylor

I'm not suggesting they do it.....I'm just trying to figure out what possible way they could be thinking about moving up.

Richardson had an arthroscopic knee surgery in February. The gambler's ruin...

Exactly what I said awhile back... I've watched TR in every game he played at Alabama. He would definitely keep the chains moving and actually finish it with a TD. Defense will be rested when they come on the field and create terror. Oh yeah! :jets:

That's most mocks. Im just saying what im hearing down here in tampa.

Plus nobody knows if schiano will be running zone, man, or a mix of the two. The more zone they run the less value claiborne has. Plain and simple

Crazy bit of random info to throw on the speculation fire...

Richardson's agent is Jimmy Sexton, same as Rex's, Sparano's and Tebow's.

The cap hit is not brutal, it's nearly impossible. $17 million on the cap the minute Revis is traded. $18 million on the cap if it happens after the workout bonus.

The Jets just don't have $17 million in cap space plus what they will need to pay 2 1st rounders and the rest of their draft. It just isn't there. They can't get cap savings by cutting people like Scott and Hunter because their contracts are guaranteed.

You have to go all the way down to Brandon Moore, who is their 9th player in cap value this year before you get any savings from a cut. He would save $3M (minus what his replacement cost of course). Next guy up to be cut would be Mike DeVito, you get $3.1M in cap savings this year for that. Then the Jets would need to cut LaRon Landry and Tim Tebow which would produce about $3M more in savings between them.

Now they're at the point they could cut Darrelle Revis without being over the cap but they still need about $5-6M for the draftees and another $3M for emergencies.

If they do re-works of a couple of deals, like David Harris and Santonio Holmes they could free that money up but after they had cut 3 or 4 guys who figure in the Jets plans this year. They'd be taking cap casualties to get Revis out of town.

The Jets only have about $89 million in cash on this $120 million cap. That's because of all the pro-rated bonuses and the reworks of D'Brick, Sanchez and several other people over the last couple of years. What being that low on cash does is to make fixes this year more painful in future years. It's harder to squeeze cap space out of less cash spent this year without making the pro-rated hit next year even worse than the one this year.

I don't think they can make a deal but it's the only deal that makes sense to try.

Instead of giving up a ton of picks perhaps they may package some players like Cromartie,Scott,Leonard,Hey you never know.

Well here's an interesting thought: the Jets could package Revis, Scott and Hunter in return for the 3 and Minnesota's 1st next year. That gives them an immediate cap hit of about $10 million instead of $17 million and they get by at that point by cutting Brandon Moore to get under the cap.

Minnesota is thinking about taking Claiborne with that pick. Instead of Claiborne and his low rookie wage they get guaranteed production from Revis and can figure out if Scott and Hunter help after the fact or not. The Vikings have $30 million in cap space to work with and so they can both absorb Revis easily and rework him into a mutually agreeable deal and also absorb the 1 year hits from Scott and Hunter.

The Jets get Richardson, put Kyle Wilson on the field and have an extra 1 next year along with their 16 this year. Sign me up for that.

Edit: oh, wait. That won't work. Scott has a dead money hit of $7.2 million when he leaves. Bleah...

Re-edit: Wait! The dead money on Scott includes his guaranteed salary so it's only a $3 million hit and net +$1.2 million on the current cap. I think...

It would be pretty damn funny if we traded Revis to Minnesota and then he held out there.
