I've been going draft-crazy like the rest of you, and then this scenario popped into my head. A lot of mocks have the Texans looking for a WR. Let's say Ingram's gone by pick 16, but Floyd's available. I could plausibly see a scenario where the Texans might want to give us their 2nd round pick to switch spots. There should still be a lot of good talent left at pick #26 (we could go BPA), plus we get an extra 2nd rounder. I know there's been a lot of talk on the board about the Jets trading down and how every team wants to trade down this draft, but I think this is a realistic scenario. What say you gents?

    Jets give 16th (1000) to Texans and receive 26th (700) and 58th (320).

The Jets could throw in their 1st 6th rounder (187 - 17 points) if they wanted to even it out, but I would think the Jets could get a little better value since the Texans would probably initiate the trade.

If Floyd's available the Jets should take him.

I'd be pissed if we traded back and passed on Floyd.

I really believe Rex loves Floyd, he's an awesome physical receiver. Floyd blocks better than 95% of the WRs in the NFL now.

Yea i dont care whos available if we trade back, they wont have the impact Michael Floyd could have with us. Makes our passing and running game that much better.

Floyd is perfect in Tony's offense.

All the rumors of the Bills now liking Gilmore and Barron, I don't see a team between 11-15 drafting Floyd.

Im not crazy about Floyd but if all the prospects projected as top 12 talent are gone and we passed on floyd yes I would be pissed.

Im sick of the musical chairs at WR.

Its also evident there's a lack of talent on offense. Floyd is the big athlete this offense needs to open up Holmes game and in effect help our ground n pound.

And one thing I do love about Floyd is his blocking.

26 is too late to draft IMO. We went 8 and 8 cause of an overall lack of talent. At 16 someone will fall to us and id rather see us go BPA instead of focusing on value/need.

After all the talk im slowly expecting DeCastro to be a jet after a cple reaches leave pass rushers and skill players gone.

    Coach,

Floyd may not be my 1st choice, but if he falls he has to be strongly considered.

We need to give Sanchez more weapons.

Chaz Schilens is our # 2 WR.

If we pass on Floyd or he's gone, we can get an OLB and draft Sanu or Jeffery in Rd 2.

If Floyd drops to us with nobody else the Jets want, I would take him rather than trading back. It would be nice to draft what should be a solid number #2 receiver right away in the NFL. It would put less pressure on Schillens being healthy and succeeding and our WR core of Kerley, Floyd, Tone is really good. (I don't know why I ordered from the slot to #2, #1 there)

I hate taking a WR in the first round.

  10. Floyd at #16 is a no brainer. He's perfect for this team, offense & value at that spot.

Oh I was agreeing with you. If all the value at OLB is gone I don't want to trade down and miss out on Floyd.

There's even talk of BUF pairing him with Johnson.

I will go on record as a HUGE Jeffery fan. If we could nab him in the 2nd id be ecstatic. Sanu is great value in the 2nd rd.

what im curious to see is which position there's a run on in the late 1st or early 2nd. I think it'll be WR/OL.

I was just saying about DeCastro if the value at pass rush isn't there I could see him becoming a Jet.

Then again for all I know he could be a suprise pick before us.

People like Barron, Keuchly and DeCastro will be top 15 picks no question simply because their complete lack of negatives if your scouting them.

And im aware only Hutchinson and forgot the other player. But only 2 OGs drafted before 20 in the last decade.

I think the rookie wage scale has alot of teams willing to take players with higher floors and positions you don't see traditionally adressed that early.

  12. The spots for Floyd in front of #16 are:

#5 Bucs- Unlikely but Freeman could use another weapon & allow Floyd/Mike Williams to compete for the # 2 spot next to Vincent Jackson

#6 Rams- Again unlikely- But if Blackmon is off the board or they like Floyd better(certainly possible) Bradford needs more help around him

#7 Jags- Desperate for a top WR for short & long term. If Blackmon is there he will be their pick. If not, It's likely down to Floyd, Gillmore, Kuechele, or Ingram

#8 Phins- Need to replace Brandon Marshall

    # 10 Bills- Would make alot of sense. Although PFT is reporting that the bills are hot for Barron of all players.

    # 13 Cards- Larry Fitzgerald recently said he wants team to take Floyd. With that said they have desperate needs at pass rusher & O-line

Just what the ground and pound with a poor RT needs. Or better yet, what a team and coach that relies on a stifling defense that has more holes then Swiss Cheese needs. PASS on the ND diva.

I don't agree with it, but I saw one draft where Floyd was the first receiver off the board around 5 or 6, claiming that he's catching up with Blackmon very quickly and may surpass him on draft day.

floyd is not going anywhere near 16. he'll be gone. imo there is a decent chance dicastro is still there as well as ingram.

this is a great draft to slither back and stock pile another rd 2 or 3 pick - "1A" type players that would be projected as starters, during the first 3 rounds. getting an extra round 2 and/or round 3 pick by moving back but u need a partner of course. this is a deep draft in rounds 2 and 3 so if there is a time, its now.

i personally would love an inside out scenario, getting an ILB and OLB, and essentially re-building 1/2 the unit in one draft. rounding that out with either OL or WR, creating a nice 3 headed draft.

we absolutely have to come away with 3 expected starters here early on. NO friggin pet projects until round 7 at the earliest.

  16. As if drafting solely for need is the undisputed recipe for success. yes the Jets are ground & pound but they need to be able to throw the football downfield. They have a "Need" opposite Holmes for a big vertical threat typ.e One culd argue it's just as big of a need as RT,linebacker & Safety. Floyd at # 16 would be a home run value & need wise.

It seems like a lot of guys that we've been connected to might be around for pick 26 anyway (Upshaw, Jones, Coples, Hightower, Mercilus, McClennin, Perry, a few OT's). This way we get a guy we probably would have drafted at 16 anyway, with an additional 2nd rd pick. There are a lot of WR's we could target in the 2nd round (Jeffrey, Sanu, etc). I guess the main question is, do we pass on Floyd, and clearly the board's sentiment is a resounding no.

I love Floyd and think he's great value at #16, BUT there are a couple of other nice WR's with height and speed that could be had later in the first/second round. If we could pick up an additional 2nd round pick I may be tempted to pull the trigger. The Texans might have to sweeten the deal a little given the value in Floyd at that spot.

Loads of teams seem hot on Barron at the moment, its very unlikely he makes it out of the first 15 picks.
