I used to flip flop between these two but i think ive finally settled on upshaw. Most impressive tape by far.
I'm so tired of the ingram love. He's going to wind up being a middle linebacker and probably a good one but with that being said his frame and small arms pretty much makes him a non issue as a pass rusher. I've watched as many youtube game videos of him and I can't find him beating a tackle one on one. His arms are almost 6 inches smaller then chandler jones. I love him as an athlete and I think he's a good football player, but I don't think he's what the jets need. Upshaw fits the Jets defense. The jets really do not play a typical 4-3. Every week they line up in some other type of front and so they really don't need both outside linebackers to rush/play the run/drop into coverage. Upshaw would be the strong side linebacker and probably line up in a 3 point stance as a lineman most of the time. We know Rex Ryan loves big run stuffers primarily. He fits that mold. He can anchor the strong side and plays with great technique and power. None of the other players at his position in the draft can even sniff his ability to play the run at this point. Is he going to be a speed rusher off the edge? No, but he has great footwork, hands, power, technique and short area speed. I think he will be a handful for any defense to deal with. Do I think either of these player is a 10+ sack guy? Not at all, but Upshaw fits what Rex Ryan likes to do.
Bingo!! Just because these scouts and media know it alls don't rate Hightower as high as CU & MI, doesn't mean Hightower is less of a talent. Hightower is more instinctive and NFL ready.
Since you're very high on Hightower I've been meaning to ask you, let's say you're the GM of the Jets who would you pick Hightower or Kuechly? I don't think the answer is as obvious as many think.
I love Hightower but I'm not stupid enough to pass on Kuechly. Kuechly is the best linebacker in this draft.
While I understand Kuechly is the best LB in the draft, I did say the Jets for a reason, Hightower does provide that versatility to play inside and out, which is why I thought of it as a tougher question.
They let the sam guy go also. The achilles injury on Beason is probably going to get him moved outside where the wear and tear on his foot won't be as much. They're down 2 starting LB's from last year and the MLB, who is a great player, is coming off of serious surgery. They're going to want to get a good LB in the draft and Kuechly is the best available.
This. I see the Jets going Chandler Jones or Michael Floyd. I don't want Upshaw or Ingram. Ingram isn't a top pass rusher and I want a huge playmaker. To me Jones fills that on defense and Floyd on offense. Two more days!
I realized the only person hyping Chandler Jones is McShay so, I sort of doubt its gonna happen Also based on some of these rumors I have a feeling someone amazing will fall for us
I believe Mayock is hyping him up as well . I also have that feeling but I don't want to jinx it by saying the player who I think it could be. If this draft follows the last two years trend, except someone unexpected.
Its obvious he’s the next JPP or Aldon Smith! His frame is soooo long and his brother is da best UFC fighter evaaaaa!1!!!1!1 He #1 on my board!!!!!!!!
Thats what I sort of realized about two weeks ago. The past two seasons the Jets have been very patient and someone crazy good has fallen to us. I know were not picking as late as we have the past two seasons but regardless, I think there will be a person. When I hear players top 10 teams are considering I'm thinking that means one more player who the Jets could really steal at 16
