These seem to be the two best rush backers in the draft. Both look to be able to play many positions on the line. LB is by far our biggest need IMO. So pick one please.
Some would argue our biggest NEED is RT. Actually, we haven't had a pass rusher in 10 years and have done ok. Our biggest desire might be to get one but we probably have three or four more pressing needs. FS, RB, RT and RG come to mind.
I understand we have other needs. But at 16 if both are there who would be the best fit? I know about RT, WR and Safety. All needs. But with a pass rush and our corners it would make it tuff for guys like Brady to light it up.
This is the first time in a long time I really agree with taking the BPA in this draft. We have enough needs that I'm good with whoever that might be.
I'll be honest here, and I'm in the super minority, but I have come to really not like Ingram. I've taken time to watch as many games as I can find of his and frankly the things he did in College won't workout in the NFL. I don't see him being able to move all over the field, I don't see him dominating when rushing the outside, and I barely see a sure tackler. I'm going to keep saying this, while watching Ingram I've been most impressed when he blitzes the middle either at DT or MLB, I think he is going to end up as a MLB. I prefer Upshaw in this case and I hate how everyone is so down on him, its silly to me. He's been a dominant player in a dominant conference, what more could you want? (Yes, I know they're in the same conference, but Upshaw was a standout among standouts on his team, that in and of itself is impressive) Fuck workout numbers, I know the kids a beast, I don't need to look at a 40 time to judge a player.
I doubt Ingram will be there at #16 but if he is gotta go with him. Fuck the shorter arms and that he's only 6"1. He has a non-stop motor and has that will to make the play, I think he will be perfect as a OLB.
Exactly. Upshaw is a football player first and foremost. Players like Ducasse are physical specimens but you have to teach them to translate it to the field. With Upshaw there is no transition he will come in ready to play right away.
Upshaw and it's not that close. I was a lot higher on CU last year before I really paid close attention to him, but at least I believe he can play the position. I don't know what the hell Ingram is, but I certainly wouldn't bet the farm on 34 OLB or DE.
I'm a big upshaw fan. He may not be the elite edge rusher we would all love, but he does everything well to very well. Everyting including rushing the passer. He's a instinctive, talented football player with the ability to get to the QB and play the run.
+1 Absolutely agree, is Upshaw the best pass rusher in the draft No. But is he one of the best linebackers Yes.
Neither. But if I had to, Ingram. I accidentally voted for Upshaw like an idiot, but that would be idiotic to believe that--- one's a potential top-7 pick and the other could potentially fall out of the first round.
Just listened to Upshaw interview on Sirius NFL. Nice kid. Said he hadnt lifted all year bc of injuries ( knee tendinitis, back spasms and shoulder). Could explain a lot. Warrior, but do you want a young dude that banged up already?
Neither of these guys will be a big time NFL pass rusher IMO. If I have to pick one of the two, I go Upshaw all day. I don't really see him ever being a star, but he can be a solid OLB if I have to pick between the two.
I went Ingram because he will be the better ILB, which is where I think both of them will wind up. Upshaw is big and less fluid than you want out of the LILB. He will work out in that role, especially if he goes to the Steelers, but Ingram is not only very capable of playing that role, he can also line up as a rusher in any of the gaps and be a plus. His limitations are on the edges because tackles have long arms and he has T-Rex wings.
