I'd like Perry too but honestly if Jones is just gonna be our pass rusher, transitioning to standing up wont be a problem for him

Kirkpatrick doesn't tackle well enough to play FS, I wouldn't mind because he's great coverage but against the run we'd have trouble

I'm sorry I didn't know you could see into the future, what if he has 10 sacks next year, will it be a bad pick then

    stop following the trend

How do you know that today, before the draft and before Chandler Jones has played one down of NFL football? I'll answer my own question. You don't have a clue what kind of a player Jones will be and either does almost anyone else.

    He does, he's a stud.

It's definitely better than whoever is saying that Kendricks is a OLB. Thats a horrific fit at his size.

Perry is a much more natural athlete to make the conversion. Jones just looks awkward when he has to do anything but straight rush, thought he definitely has the strength to play end. Their projections really are flipflopped oddly by most people.

And kirkpatrick would be ok at Free, hes an aggressive and willing hitter which is the most important thing. Technique can be taught and improved, having balls can't.

You are obviously following the trend. Chandler Jones it the new hot name just like McClellin and Gilmore. He was a mid second rounder a week ago that was a project passrusher, and now all of a sudden he’s a top 16 pick.

Like Johnny said, he is better suited as a 4-3 end and doesnt have that elite bust/athleticism that all of a sudden he developed in the last week. You could say that anyone CAN have 10 sacks next season... Sure, Jones could be great. He could get 20 sacks. Theres always a possibility. Bilal Powell could be the greatest RB for the next 5 years...

You could say that about anyone, once again. Up until a week ago, Jones was never sniffing the 1st round. He was a developmental 4-3 DE that has some upside as a passrusher. But now, he is the next JPP or Aldon Smith because he has a long frame and Mike Mayock moved him up on his board... Im not buying it. I personally dont like when a player shoots up an entire round (especially into the top 16) four days before the draft.

Because I “dont have a clue what kind of player Jones will be”, should I just give up on the whole draft process? The whole point, as a fan, is to learn about a player and formulate your own opinion on them... Obviously none of us are scouts, so should we just not try and give our opinions on them because we dont know what kind of player theyll be?

If Jones is going to be strictly rushing the passer why cant he be a 3-4 OLB especially in his 1st year, think Aldon Smith, never plays against the run and is being groomed into a more complete OLB

4-3 DE, 3-4 Rush OLB, main difference is one is standing up the other has their hand in the dirt

edit- I've wanted Chandler Jones for a while now, if we cant get Ingram I'd be okay grabbing Jones

The fact of the matter is Chandler Jones has nowhere near the skillset Aldon Smith does, nor the production.

    BINGO!!!!! YAHTZEE!!!

Aldon Smith’s of JPP’s do not grow on trees. They are so highly coveted and highly valued because you only come by them every few years... They are athletic FREAKS that have the potential to be one of the greats at the position. You can make Chandler Jones out to be that player, feel free... But he simply is not. He doesnt have the same explosion, quickness, bend, athleticism and overall potential that JPP and Aldon Smith have.

No one in this draft class is on that level of passrush ability... Thats what it comes down to. If you want to make a player into that type of prospect, no one is stopping you, but Jones is not on that level.

I actually like McClellin a lot and he does have the athleticism to play OLB in a 3-4. I dont know how I would feel about him at 16, but at the end of the 1st, he would be a great choice.

Also, one note on him is that he’s had 3 concussions in college, and that is a HUGE red flag in today’s NFL. One more concussion and he could be in bad shape, 2 more and the doctors may tell him he cant play football... I would be very worried about that.

Theres so many things wrong with this reasoning... You can say this about any prospect, for instance- Olivier Vernon has a CHANCE to be one of the best OLB’s from this class so therefore he should be drafted high. In essence, thats what’s being said; we wont know what any player could become until they are in the NFL, so whats the point in evaluating them?

The fact of the matter is that he could possibly be a very good player if he develops (because many forget he is very raw and needs to develop) but he doesnt have the athleticism or explosion of those you compare him to.

But his brother can beat people up. He must be awesome.

Its come to the point pass rusher is such a need people are falling in love with potential when out of all these guys taken in the 1st only 2 or 3 of them will be legit.

Can't wait for the draft so people can stop overhyping youtube footage

I think Perry would be a solid pick.

I love players with a non stop motor and that hit.
    He does both.

One thing he shows is good balance.
He stays on his feet and squared up... very impressive for someone that size.

Pouha's best position is DE, not NT. Saying that....#20 Kyle Wilson's best position is Free Safety not CB.

Jets need to draft another NT,CB,RT, & Guard...Also a Punter. . After they get there OLB.

NT? We just resigned Pouha and drafted Kenrick Ellis last season, I think we're fine at that position.

With the Jets looking at a pass rusher in tomorrows draft, did you know over the past 5 years there have only been 2 pass rushers that have made the Pro Bowl drafted after #16.

    2009- Clay Matthews #26 overall
    2007- LaMarr Woodley #46 overall

    I thought this was interesting...
