You could make a case Just like the Jets offense, every possible component of the Rangers offense is shit. Can't breakout of our own zone, cant across the opponents blue line, cant hold the puck in the offensive zone, make Craig Anderson look stellar. The teams so much scoring help, we were foolish to think that Richards would entirely turn this teams offense around. He's a help but we need more scoring threats and less role player lines
Well, if we're out in Round 1, you can bet that Sather will be after Parise with a big time offer. I won't say a negative thing about the Rangers tonight. They played hard, they had enough puck control, they got 41 friggin shots on goal. It was bad luck and good goaltending. There were several rebound opportunities that no one was there for, or it was on the player's backhand and they couldn't elevate.
The Rangers became the number one seed because they had an explosive season. Truthfully, I was scared every time we were up against the Rangers. You guys have a great Goal Tender and your team has several great players. But idk what happened after the break, you guys just lost your funk. After having such a nice cushion, you let the penguins basically catch up to you. I didn't care enough about the Rangers to follow them close, so I wouldn't know what or if something happened but that's what I noticed. (2 cents)
The best goalie in the world, an amazing defense for most of the season, and a playoff-like effort every night. Their offense is average, and right now the top guys are slumping and the younger players look beyond lost with the puck. That, and the grinders are getting big time minutes because of their defense.
False, the Rangers had the most Regulation/Overtime wins in the league by a nice margin (well 2, but in the east like 4 or 5) and only had 4 shootout wins. It's what happens when you're not the most offensively talented team to begin with and then your top guys don't show up and your secondary guys also stop showing up at the same time. Gaborik and Richards have been trash Stepan, Dubinsky, Anismov, Del Zotto have all done nothing. Callahan hasn't been all that great either Hagelin getting suspended didn't help things and threw off all the lines. Also, it's no coincidence that Richards had his best stretch of the season with Hagelin playing with him and Gaborik. You know you're in a bad state when 5 of your 9 goals have been scored by Brian Boyle and Anton Stralman
You need talent around Parise...We need a skilled player who can take over on his own. Like Jagr did. Nash was that kind of player...I am sure Sather will work with Columbus again in the off season to get that done if we are done on Monday
Don't you fucking dare try and blame officiating for the position the Rangers find themself in. Just don't go there.
Hagelin got 3 games because Alfredsson was hurt. Boyle didn't get hurt, so there was no suspension there. That's his point. He expects consistency in suspension. This series can't be blamed on the refs.
Hagelin got three games for launching himself elbow first at Alfredsson's head, not because Alfie was concussed (although that didn't help). Presuming that Poeman is referring to the Chris Neil hit tonight and Tortorella's ridiculous post-game comments, there's no comparison between the two. Neil stayed on his feet, wasn't late and led with his shoulder. Boyle's concussed because Boyle didn't bother watching what was coming for him - that was a textbook open ice check and it's his own fault he got hurt. Comparing it to the Torres hit is just another chapter in the compendium of Tortorella's idiocy.
To compare it to the Torres hit is way overboard. I still don't see Hagelin's hit as launching, or aggressive. He stood up, but didn't launch, and coasted in. He seemed a little out of control, probably because he's not much of a hitter. It was a late, sloppy, dangerous hit, but Hagelin's not the type of player to have a mean streak and try to hurt someone, and Alfie, a class act, is the last person you'd want to do it to anyway.
What. A. Load. Of. Horseshit. He didn't leave his feet. The puck was on Boyle's stick when Neil committed to the hit. Boyle's head is down. And Chris Neil's long list of supplementary discipline as a repeat offender is a $1000 fine in 2003 and, er, that's it. Maybe there's a bit more research to be done than you think, Tortorella, because it's very fucking clear that you haven't done any.
The hit wasn't terrible, but Neil DID hunt Boyle down. Neil left the man he was skating with to blow up Boyle, who was well covered by others. It was no more or less late than the Alfredsson hit. I understand the elbow makes it worse.
The fact that Neil "hunted" Boyle makes no difference. You're allowed to want to hit someone. It was a legal hit. That being said, someone on teh Rangers should of course go try to knock Neil out on MOnday. Thats how the playoffs go
So what? Boyle crossed the blue line and skated across the middle of the ice with his head down. He issued a gold embossed invitation for someone to destroy him with a perfectly legal hockey hit, and that's exactly what happened. Boyle is concussed because Boyle is stupid, and Tortorella is making a scene about it because it's much better to focus on that than the fact that his team's offensive play has been pretty much non-existent.
Thank you, jonny. I agree that Neil will be skating with a target on him tomorrow, but he's a big boy and he can look after himself. I just hope that we get the benefit of the inevitable penalties; once again there was some ticky-tack officiating yesterday.
