I don't want Maybin putting on 30 lbs to become an every down OLB because it will likely slow him down. I want him to refine his strengths and become even more of a disruptive pass rushing force. Give him and the coaching staff some time and it will pay dividends.
Once we get this guy in the gym with Landry its all over...he is only 24 and has speed..the fact that he led the team with sacks is hard to stomach but imagine we didn't pick him up .. He is a cheap pass rusher with upside in the right scheme..can't hate too much on that ..especially with our pass rush
where do some of you people come up with these bolded thoughts? jetaho, you are twisted, those are your thoughts, not mine. i'd rather be a darksider than to think on your twisted, perverted level. how about leaving your twisted thinking for the dr. and off this board. you need help!
i just think sacks are over rated at that level. when players are up in the 20 sack range it generally means they are constantly around the qb, even if not getting sacks. 6 to 8 sacks is nothing special as far as i can see. teams were not worried about maybin from what i saw.
Lol, that's ridiculous. Overrated? So sacks are only important if you get 20 a season? Are forced fumbles overrated too unless you get at least 10? And regardless, how did you expect him to get anywhere near that when he was playing limited snaps all season? Give me a break. It's one thing to be cautious of getting overly excited but it seems you're going out of your way to find a reason why Maybin is nothing special.
Interesting that he didn't actually sign his tender, but a lower priced, $1m contract instead. Guess he needed the bonus.
i guess it went right over your head! maybin was not all that impressive. sure, he got a few sacks but, every team expects their qb will get sacked once or twice during a game. it's inedivable. maybin's not a guy any team game planned for, thats for certain. he does not put fear into a qb the way marcus ware did to sanchez in the dallas game last year. after a couple ware sacks sanchez was chicken little there after.
So now you're knocking him for not being Marcus Ware? I assume you meant Demarcus Ware? You know, the guy who's arguably the best passrushing OLB in the league and got paid about 7x what Maybin did last season? Your comparison is so off base I'm not sure if you're being serious or just trying to get a reaction.
Teams most definitely game planned against Maybin late in the season. Also Sanchez played very well in the Cowboys game.
it's funny, he was a bust for the bills, yet he comes to the jets and rex works a miracle to make him a feared pass rusher. just because he's a jet, some will jump on the maybin wagon. i bet if ryan fitzpatrick got cut and came to the jets he'd be the next coming of staubach or someone along those lines, simply because he's a jet. some need to get a grip! maybin will get a handful of sacks that will amount to very little effect in the win column. jets homers are the worst and there are too many of them on this forum!
He did nothing on the bills. At one point last year he had the highest sack per snap ratio in the nfl. Not sure where he ended on that list because i can't find it. People are excited about him because he was productive for us and made a ton of progress. If he did nothing like he did for the Bills no one would care about him. Why are you concerned about what he did for the bills when he's been productive for the jets?
Well said my dude. well said. its about the present, and the future not he past. Hes only going to get better....
