Manish Mehta @TheJetsStream Good to see him in on time. Can't wait to see what he can do with a full off-season in the system.
well i dont want to rain on the moment but if we and the jets expect anything more than what we saw last year from AM we are doing everyone a disservice..... but imo thats a good thing - he had to be one the most efficient players in the league last year regarding sacks and number of plays. ill take that any day and if he can repeat that next year with a little help on the other side of the D than we should have at least 1 player with double digit sacks.
i fail to understand what some people think an off season in the jets system is going to do for someone that is a one trick pony. maybin has shown what he's good for, and an off season isn't going to change anything. he's been in the league for 4 years, he's pretty much peaked at what he's capable of.
Maybin was more than a one trick pony at the end of last season. He still wasn't a run stopper but he was effectively using a variety of pass rushing moves. He progressed tremendously last year. Why can't he continue to progress with the right coaching?
He played for the Buffalo Bills, so let's see what he can do with an off-season with Rex. :buffaloblows:
QFT. I forgot who did it, but one poster did an analysis of him trying other moves and techniques -- I think it was the Washington game. Considering his rate of improvement and effectiveness from his transition from the Bills to the Jets (which is pretty high), I don't think it's so far fetched to think he will continue to grow with a full off season with the Jets. Edit: Ironically, it was the guy I qouted: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=69613&highlight=maybin+redskins
This is the worst fucking news all year. I'm so fucking bummed. Why didn't someone else pick up his tender so we could have 2 1st round picks? Blah... With the 16th pick the New York Jets select Courtney Upshaw. With the 24th pick the New York Jets select Nick Perry. loltrickedu. That's right. Pittsburgh gave us their first rounder for Maybin. What of it?
No, he'd prefer to run in and talk some nonsensical bs and just once you get annoyed enough to address him he disappears into the night like The Joker.
I was making a joke. Obviously none of those things would happen. But since nobody picked Maybin up, this news story isn't really a story at all. It's an afterthought.
Well, maybe we should consider a few things. 1. He entered the league after just turning 21 years old and after holding out most of his rookie camp. 2. He was asked to do too much as a rookie; ie play OLB against the run and drop into coverage. 3. His son was stillborn right before his sophmore season started. Is he still undersized? Sure. But I think to say a guy who turns 24 this month and had 6 sacks in 10 games last year has "peaked" is off based.
Good to see, even if he never is more than a one trick pony, wish the Ghost had been able to do at least one trick, other than make money disapear.
