It may be a little early but can any of the draft Guru's on this board tell us where the depth is on next years draft? We all know W/R, etc go deep in this draft but where is next years draft loaded? We can't fill in all the gaps on this team in one year but if next years draft is strong in an area in which we have a need, can we just get an veteran FA in for one year? Thoughts please!
safeties TJ McDonald USC Robert Lester Alabama Bacarri Rambo Georgia Vaughn Telemaque Miami Eric Reid LSU Ray Ray Armstrong Miami Kenny Vacarro Texas DeVonte Holloman South Carolina Tony Jefferson Oklahoma
Don't have time to go super in depth, but safeties will be solid, definitely. Also, the top part of the QB and WR classes are going to be LOADED if UCs declare. The rising Jr classes at both positions are outstanding.
Like GH said, the Top WRs and QBs next year are very good, especially the juniors. For QB's look for guys like: Matt Barkley Landry Jones Tyler Bray Aaron Murray Tyler Wilson (Who I think is going to have a breakout year) For WR's look for guys like: Robert Woods Keenan Allen Kenny Stills Marquess Wilson Terrance Williams (I think he has a chance to have a huge year) The Offensive Lineman are solid next year too, look for guys like: DJ Fluker, OT, Alabama Barrett Jones, OG/C, Alabama (Think DeCastro, he can come in and be great out of the gate) Ricky Wagner, OT, Wisconsin Xavier Nixon, OT, Florida (If he has a great year look for him to shoot up draftboards) Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
My favorite play of Logan's last season: Josh Freeman 2.0. I am not ready to declare him a top 5 pick, he needs to have an impressive season with his arm first. I want to see him throw less INTs and throw for more than 59% (Yeah I know I am critiquing) . He's definitely a great prospect, I wont doubt that, if hes smart he should play out his college career. He'd be the #1 pick in 2014. And you think Hunter will bounce back that well after the ACL injury?
Hello best receiving tandem in the nation. Lee had 73 receptions for 1,143 yards and 11 touchdowns as a true freshman. Kid is special.
If the safeties are that good next year would we be better off waiting for one of them and getting a veteran FA to fill in for the year?
Too bad he can't come out next year. Look for 2014 or 15. A stop gap would be good, problem is there aren't many out there.
What if we let Barron play FS this year. When Laron's contract is up, we let him move back to SS. That was, he'll know both roles. We can draft a safety next year and it'll be a quality tandem to compliment our solid CB core. Just a thought
Not to shoot you down but Barron cannot fulfill the duties that a Free Safety in the NFL is required to do.
Thomas is sooooo much better than Josh Freeman. Not as polished a passer but a much better athlete. Stats will come, I'm not worried about that, just watching the kid play anyone can tell he has all the talent in the world. He could go #1 before Barkley and Wilson if he really shreds this year. And Hunter was/is a top notch track athlete, so I'm sure he knows how to get his body back together. With Rogers opposite him he'll be able to ease back in, and once he's 100% he'll dominate like he was doing pre injury.
