My top 5 player's by position on the offensive side of the ball. I did not repeat players (ex: Cordy Glenn can play both G and RT). I did not rank Centers & Fullbacks. There are a few players that may be on my list or off that may surprise. QUARTERBACKS Andrew Luck - Stanford RGIII - Baylor Ryan Tannehill - Texas A&M Brock Osweiler - ASU Kirk Cousins - MSU RUNNING BACKS Trent Richardson - Bama Doug Martin - Boise State Lamar Miller - The U David Wilson - Virginia Tech Bernard Pierce - Temple OFFENSIVE TACKLE Matt Kalil - USC Riley Reiff - Iowa Mike Adams - OSU Jonathan Martin - Stanford Bobbie Massie - Ole' Miss OFFENSIVE GUARD David DeCastro - Stanford Cordy Glenn - Gerogia Kelechi Osemele - Iowa State Amini Silatolu - Midwestern State Brandon Brooks - Miami, Ohio WIDE RECEIVERS Justin Blackmon - Oklahoma State Michael Floyd - Notre Dame Kendall Wright - Baylor Alshon Jeffery - South Carolina Stephen Hill - Georgia Tech TIGHT ENDS Coby Fleener - Stanford Dwayne Allen - Clemson Orson Charles - Georgia Michael Egnew - Mizzou James Hanna - Oklahoma
Stephen Hill over Sanu, Randle, Quick and even Criner? Do we all forget all he did in college was run in a straight line over and over again? Every year we say all the combine process is supposed to do is bring you back to the tape and then this happens. There's only one Randy Moss... and he had a 4.25 dash...
Hill's ceiling is much higher than the WRs you mentioned. Randle was close to making my top 5...not Criner, Sanu & Quick...not even close.
Hill: 6'4" ft & 215 lbs - 4.36 40yd - 4.28 20ss - 6.48 3cone - 39.5 vert Schilens: 6'4" ft & 225 lbs - 4.33 40yd - 4.25 20ss - 6.84 3cone - 43 vert Hill only ran in a straight line in college so all you can base potential on is numbers... and if those numbers make Hill worthy of a 1st rd pick then other players who never did anything impressive in the NFL, like Schilens, should've been in the discussion in previous years drafts. My points: 1) Athletic potential is waaaaaaay over-rated. 2) Media frenzy is what makes players like Hill over-drafted.
Cmom, let's not compare Hill to Schliens. I have my opinion, you have yours. No one is right or wrong. I'm not a huge Hill fan, most have him rated as their 3rd best WR, I have him at #5. Hill's size, speed and potential gives him a higher rating, it's not based on his productivity. Trust me, I'm not a workout wonder fan.....I wasn't fooled by Gholston's combine like most Jet fans.
I dont understand why kellen Moore isn't ranked in top 5 qbs. His football IQ is really fucking high. I bet under the right circumstances he's the next brees Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Kellen Moore is a winner and one of the smartest players in this draft. Moore just doesn't have the physical tools to be worth an elite pick. Brees is the exception, most QBs his size aren't succesful.
Of course of course You know I think you make a very good job in the draft process... that's why I like to play devil's advocate with you when I disagree! We'll see where he goes... I'm very curious. How do yo see the other WRs from #6 to #10? I ask because I think there's a good chance we go WR in rd 2 or 3. PS Also very curious of were Brandon Brooks goes. I agree he has a lot of potential and would like to have him on the team as Brandon Moore's eventual replacement (ie next year).
Brooks is one of my favorite players in this draft. With any luck, I think Brooks could be a mid/late rd 2 pick.
I completely agree. I think he's a better prospect than tannehill. I also think grandpa weedon is gonna be a late steal for whoever picks him. He could have a good 6 year career. He has a cannon for an arm Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Theres a reason Moore isnt getting picked earlier than the 5th or 6th. And theres no reason Weeden couldn't play 10 solid years I understand not a ton of QBs play till theyre 40, but alot of qbs arent 29 in their rookie seasons either
Oh also, looking forward to the top 5 defensive players by position. Thats the list im far more interested in. Im sure a lot harder to make as well
Shocked with Osweiler being so high, he went in round 5 in the 7 rder while Weeden/Cousins went 2-3 rounds earlier. Guessing your on the Osweiler train WW85?
Whoa... let's not mix what Moore has in his brain (a lot) and what he has in his shoulder and arm (very very little).
I'm a little biased in my support for Sanu, but people tend to forget that he did very well with really bad quarterbacks throwing to him. Maybe if he's under rated enough, we'll get a chance to draft him in the 3rd
Could we see Alshon Jeffery drop to us in the 2nd round at #47 (If that is our pick #). That would be a great second round pick if the Jets address OLB/Pass Rush in the 1st round. Either way I would pull the trigger if Jeffery was available at our pick in the 2nd round. His stock seemed to drop since the combine. It probably won't happen, but I could see it the Browns could pick Blackmon, Tannehill, or Richardson (maybe Floyd). The Rams ( Floyd or Blackmon). Then the Jets take a pass rusher or something. Maybe he could, I mean I love to hope on draft day.
