I am sure that they are looking at it this offseason - its an interesting situation but we have the best corner in football for another 2 years with no risk of a holdout and either he signs a new contract and stays (best case) or he goes somewhere else and we use that money elsewhere on the team.

Last week Cimini said it wasn't something to deal with this year, this week it's a massive issue and it would be unfair of the Jets to hold Revis to the value portion of the deal. I wonder who's agents have been in Rich's ear...

He will holdout (again) next offseason and the Jets will be forced to trade him this time. Enjoy this season with him and hope Tannenbaum (or his replacement) doesn't get ripped off and gets a good return for him next spring/summer.

If he holds out next year his contract extends to 2016, so it hands the Jets all the leverage they need to do a cap-friendly deal. He won't hold out.

Feinsod/Schwarts: "Hey Rich - we'll slide you $2000 to write an article supporting the positives of redoing this Revis contract now, I'll even provide you with an outline of positives to work with. "

    Cimini: "Sure, why not?"

I doubt he'd even need the bribe.

highly doubt he's worried about that.

    1. he'll threaten like crazy to hold out and the Jets cave before it extends

    2. he will actually holdout, it will extend and he will continue to hold out not even caring about the "extension" - he was under contract before when he held out, why would he care this time?

Either option will require the Jets to cave and make him the highest paid Defensive player, ever or trade him to someone who will - because that's how Revis thinks/works.

Seeing as how the Jets have decent corners and they won't be in the best situation capwise in the future , trading him might not be a bad thing if they get a lot in return. (maybe a couple 1st rounders, or a player and a 1st etc)..

You give Revis whatever he wants, period. We wont find another player to do what he does, Revis and Mangold get taken care of no matter what

Do you guys think Revis likes being a Jet? Does he want to remain a Jet? Does he want to retire as a Jet and join the Hall of Fame as a Jet?

If so, everything will work out. If not, it won't.

Obviously we will give him what he wants to some extent -- he's our best player. But if he's not willing to compromise somewhat, he won't remain a Jet.

Again, much as I like having Revis on board (one of probably only 2 elite players on the Jets) if you are talking about a single player then the best CB ever isnt going to win you a SB, only a franchise QB can do that and so until we see what Sanchez has, or get someone else in, no other position is worth losing any sleep over.

Jets have 17% of their total payroll already tied up in Revis and Cromartie..who knows how much more in the subs and safeties..I think they shouldn't do anything unless it brings that number down.

I know Pittsburgh would never get rid of Troy, and the Ravens would never get rid of Ray Lewis.

If you have a superstar defensive player, you lock him up. Thats the bottomline. We need that cornerstone.

Revis is so important to this teams it laughable that guys would want him to walk, between the best and 2nd best players at each position the biggest gap is at CB

It can be argued that Ray and Troy play at more impactful positions than Revis does.

If Revis is asking for a lot, and the Jets have holes they need to fill, they have a really tough decision. Houston let Mario walk, so anything is possible. I also do think if the Jets wanted, they could trade Revis for a ton of draft picks.

No, you give Manning or Brady or Brees whatever they want period..you don't give a corner what they want they just aren't that important in the scheme of things..they can only stop one guy at a time.
