He's a FS, which is a legit fit. However, he was cut because he failed a physical on his shoulder. Not sure whether the Bucs used that as an excuse to cut him or if it was a legitimate concern.
He has been suspended twice for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. His last being a year suspension. I'll pass.
http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/01/25/2011-tackling-the-safeties/ Tanard Jackson is basically a corner playing the safety position. He's a massive liability in the run game.
I live in tampa. The guy is solid but definitely not the answer. Especially since he had one great year and then responded by getting in trouble constantly instead of taking his game to the next level.
He'd be like a Kerry Rhodes if brought in, but frankly I wouldn't mind that right now. He's worth a look.
I would be okay with this. Even if we draft a safety he could be solid depth a the very least will platooning until the draftee matures.

I would love our FS to never have to make a tackle. there not suppose to be built to tackle there to cover the deep half of the field and specialize in pass coverage not to stop the run. eric smith is good against the run but cant cover now theres an option for a guy that can cover but cant stop the run its hard to get both.
I liked the way he played. He always seemed to be around the ball, but if he was getting into trouble in Tampa I can't see him as a long term solution for the jets. Wouldn't mind having him around until we could get a proven player at the position.
Not sure why his lack of tackling skills are being mentioned here when we are in desperate need of a cover safety. Of course he's going to suck in run support, how many good cover safeties are good in run support? The all-pro ones? Pro bowlers? If he's healthy, he'd be an interesting addition. Thing is, he isn't healthy.
If we wanted a safety who could cover but couldn't tackle then we actually would be putting Cro back there at FS. Free safeties still HAVE to tackle as they are often the last line of defense if a WR beats a CB.
He's been a starting FS in this league before so obviously he can make a tackle. He just doesn't excel at it.
I'd sign him in a heartbeat for the right price. He's way better in coverage than any safety we have on the roster. So what he isn't excellent in the run game. Newsflash, it's a passing league! Just because Rex wants to ground and pound, doesn't mean everyone else will follow. Besides, Landry is excellent in run support. Fuck that. I'll take him. Yall can have Jim "Anklehugger" Leonhard and Eric "which way did he go George" Smith.
