Im not talking about position, but about the fact people think Upshaw was Bama's best defensive player last year. Thats Hightower all the way. Then the conversation begins between Upshaw, Barron and Kirkpatrick for 2nd best.
You have to admit WW that its not a normal transition to see somebody go inside at the college level to outside at the pros. It's much more likely to go the other way (outside to inside), thus it creates an outside the box issue. Most people struggle with that line of thinking. Especially when they don't spend that much time working with the draft process as you do.
depends on the OLB in the 2nd. If one of the top (relatively) guys fall, be it McClelin, Branch or maybe even Mercilus I wouldn't mind it. If its Irvin probably not. Ronnell Lewis? yeah that would irritate me. Otherwise, give me an OL, Brandon Brooks or Amini Silatolu would both be excellent additions, as would Kelechi Osemele, or Bobby Massie (although he has been getting some round 1 love lately)
I would not be upset with taking Hightower. I prefer him to Upshaw. I agree that Hightower is a more complete player and would be the wiser pick. I think Branch is a better pass rusher, but Rex does more than blitz with his LBs. The only defensive player I heard named frequently that would make me sick is Ingram.
Rule ..I agree. I just want people to look at another angle. Hightower's size and skillset makes him extremely versatile, something I hope the Jet's organization are considering.
I'm thinking Upshaw with an outside chance of Hightower. Ingrham, who the staff loves will be gone. Same goes for the likes of Richardson and Floyd. Hell there is even talk taht Barron will go to the Cowboys. That leaves a lot of often mocked guys gone to the wayside before we are up. Despite my Love for Glenn I don't see us going Oline in round one.
This is such a baller question right now. Props jetsUK. You have to figure out who they'd take first. Then you have to figure out how often those guys will actually be there. Then you have to figure out who the safe guy is that will probably be there that they may want to take. Then you have to figure out how often they'd grab that guy/s versus the other possibilities. I like complicated. For some reason I want to say it's like a tossup between Cordy Glenn and Michael Floyd. Still I feel uneasy with that answer because I feel like we take DeCastro if we can very quickly. Fun brain buster.
My opinion on Curry? Like Chandler Jones he will be a good 4-3 end, and a terrible 3-4 OLB standing up. I just don't see the fluidity in the hips, and the ability to play in space like you do with guys like McClelin, Ingram, Upshaw, Irvin and some others. It's frustrating, but most people only can go by what the experts say on TV, they don't watch as much college football as you or I do. So it's harder for them to see the versatility of some players they haven't watched very often.
I really think it's HIghtower, too. For me, it's the versatility angle. He replaces both BArt Scott and Calvin Pace - who, oh by the way, need to be replaced before 2013. I wonder if he can cover TEs?
