New York Jets 2012 Player Interest List Article on the players that the Jets have expressed interest in up to date by Jake Steinberg. Definitely worth a look through and Im sure we could hear some of these players name’s called come draft day. http://www.thejetsblog.com/2012/04/06/new-york-jets-2012-player-interest-list/
I posted this like around 2 today haha. Its a good article and its nice to get more incite on who they are actually interested in and what positions (notice how there’s only one OLman in the early rounds which further hints towards them letting Ducasse battle for RT). Im surprised the thread I posted about it before didnt get any interest haha, because it is extremely relevant.
oops - been crazy busy, didn't even notice. At least we both didn't spend the time pasting the whole thing.
this is a really good read.....I didnt even know the Jets talked to all of these guys... I really like Doug Martin and Mike Martin at different points in this draft
The fact that so few tight ends are on that list, and with all our late draft picks is really telling how this staff feels about the Aussie we signed. Same for the lack of guys we checked into for OL, with our future needs @ guard. Guess they really like those backups we got No idea whats with all the early corners were bringing in, either Rex really loves his dime corners, or someones converting to safety.
I think Steiny tweeted that the jets would be considering Janoris Jenkins as a FS... he’s undersized, but has every tool a FS needs. I wouldnt take him at 16 though, especially with his character concerns. And it is really telling on what they think of the positions and their needs- it shows they seem pretty content with who they have to start on OL, they are really thinking hard about taking another RB (which I really think one of the top 4 prospects would help a ton), they are still not satisfied at WR, they know they need a passrusher and might double dip, and finally that safety still needs to be addressed. I also like the idea of bringing in a K/P in the late rounds because as Westoff has said, its one of the best classes he’s ever seen. And BTW, Im pretty sure we could pencil in D’Anton Lynn in the 7th...
Floyd visiting next week. Thats very nice to see, he would be a great #2. Per Manish: Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd told @alexmarvez that he'll be visiting the Jets on Wednesday. Floyd on NYJ radar at No. 16.
I have seen a few mocks link us with Ronnell Lewis in the 2nd round - I think he could be a good pickup
Bill Walsh was a firm believer in drafting a QB in every draft. I guess it's the old,"if you throw enough shit against the wall some of it's bound to stick"?
Considering how hard it is to draft/acquire a play-making safety, maybe Rex/Tanny are interesting in spending a late pick on a corner to FS project. With so good safeties are available, I'm wondering if we'll see multiple teams also try to convert corners into safeties in the future. Have no idea how long such a transition would take and I'd love to hear a coach or ex-coach discuss this subject.
but that was the days of more draft rounds and u could afford to do that. i have heard some GM's say that they should draft a QB and or RB in every draft but with 7 rounds i personally would not approach it that way. maybe every other year or depending on the available pool coming out.
