apparently it's only the second time in history that the Yankees and Red Sox have each started 0-3. First time was 1966.
Hate to lose division games no matter what time of year they are. I missed today's game, did Hughes look lost? A bad inning? Velocity there? Bad series in all phases. On to the next one.
Hughes wasn't terrible but he had an 0-2 count against Pena that quickly turned into 3-2 and then he let one up a little too high and Pena sent it into the bleachers. The Joyce "triple" was really a bounce over Ibanez and the pitch wasn't bad, Joyce broke his bat on the hit and basically got lucky. Hughes' pitch count was high but it wasn't an alarming start. As for the offense Hellickson shut them down today.
i though hughes pitched o.k., bad first inning, and a mistake to Pena. I thought he could of pitched further.
This cock sucker Nunez is BRUUUUTAL in the field. But we have to rest our guys in the 2nd and 4th games of the season
what a disappointment eh? Baseball America's top 3 prospect and all this bullshit blah blah.......hes a number 4 fuckin starter. Oh well.
Pettitte allowed one run and two hits over 3 innings while striking out 2 for Class A Tampa on Monday. He only needed 32 pitches to get through 3 innings (26 of which were strikes). Coincidentally, Contreras pitched an inning in the same game for the Phillies' minor league team that the Yanks were playing. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/sto...york-yankees-goes-three-innings-second-outing
Former Yankees OF Justin Maxwell was claimed off waivers by the Astros after being DFA'ed by the Yanks.
