Anyone who watched Toon at Wisconsin was able to see the obvious: Teams stacking the box to stop the run and Toon consistently matched up in 1-1 coverage. Also, Toon never really showed up against any of the better defenses that Wisconsin faced. In 5 games against Nebraska, Mich St (2x), Ohio St, and Penn St., Toon averaged 3 catches for 53 yards per game with a total of 2 TDs.
I for one like Nick Toon. I took him in the 7 rounder for Baltimore. That said, it was in the third round and thats where I feel he should go. If the Jets drafted him at 77 I would not mind a bit. 47 is way over drafting him. Taylor is a decent player, but there will be a decent ammount of safteys around in the third that have much higher ceelings. Guys like Iloka, Martin, Robinson, and Allen should all be around and above him. Some of those guys are even a reach at 77. Taylor is most likely a 5th round guy. You put a couple of good players on a very high pedastal. They could be ok Pro's, but nothing about them screams world class guys. I like Upsahw. Despite average positional workouts he shows up on film. The kid is a player and perfect for this defense. I'd be more inclinded to go soemthing like Upshaw, Smith or Iloka, Toon in that order. It would be much better asset management than taking guys way over thier talent levels.
Threads like this make me glad he's gone. This would have turned into a shit fest by post 5 instead of talking about prospects.

We need a 1st rd RT - Hunter has to go. 2nd rd get the edge rusher on defense. 3rd rd get the best safety left.
I'm less concerned with who the Jets draft rounds 1-3 and more concerned that they take all of their draft picks based on need. No QB's, no CB's.
Im sorry, but you wont see a RT drafted by the Jets on day 1 or even 2 of the draft. The front office seems content with letting Ducasse trying to prove himself and address other holes with those picks. I dont necessarily agree, but its what seems to be their intentions at this point. The only offensive players that I think will even be considered at 16 are Richardson, DeCastro and Floyd. Thats really it.
Sometimes, nay, very often I find myself wondering if you just TRY to be as wrong as you possibly can as some kind of super elaborate hoax. Sadly I doubt that you're capable of something so advanced. Upshaw is Gholston? the 6 pick is the same as the 16? A body is the same as mastery of the position in college? I mean Upshaw to Gholston...do you just think that anybody that plays Linebacker is Gholston? That's about the most tenuous comparison possible.
According to what exactly? From the way the offseason went one could think that they didn't think they had any needs (besides wildcat QB) because they didn't have the money. Stop thinking that they won't add a top tackle prospect if one is available, because no team, even the Jets, is dumb enough to think that a guy like Ducasse is a legitimate insurance policy for an awful starter.
I started this thread to state my POV and I love all the responses, both positive and negative. Other people made mock drafts that were okay but the players they had the JETS picking were just based on CEILING FOR POTENTIAL/SIZE alone. I based my picks on guys that I felt could help the JETS because of their PRODUCTION/LEVEL OF COMPETITION/STEADY IMPROVEMENT YEAR TO YEAR/SIZE/CEILING FOR POTENTIAL. In a perfect world, I would want all the top players at each position of need for the JETS to be in green and white but that is not going to happen. Guys will be taken where they are supposed to go, while others will go higher than they should, and other players will fall for whatever reason unknown to the average fan because an organization is not in love with that player. I sure as hell don't want the JETS drafting a guy because he is an adequate size but did not face legit competition during that players time on the field in college because of his combine or pro-day alone. You have to look at the film and put everything together. My mock draft was okay just like many others and I value everyone's opinions and insights, but each player I chose for the JETS, can help them. Sure I probably could have and should have flip-flopped Brandon Taylor and Nick Toon because most scouts have Taylor as the third best safety and given a draft grade of 80 and is seen as a late second round to early third round draft pick from ESPN Insider and while Nick Toon is seen as the fifteenth best WR and has a draft grade of 71 and is seen as a late third round to early fourth round pick. Don't get me wrong, I might like a particular player higher than some others and so will the JETS and many other teams when the draft gets here. I like Joe Adams way more than Nick Toon and he has the better resume but I want both of those guys in green and white because they both bring a different dimension as far as their strengths go. Let's be honest, the JETS have a lot of holes that need plugging and the draft will be essential. Whether they stand pact where they are slotted to pick or trade down/trade up, they need good players and more depth at S, OLB, RT, LG, WR, and RB. I just pray that when the NEW YORK JETS do get on the clock on April 26 and the rest of the draft weekend, they will pick darn good football players that will help the team this year and for the rest of their careers in green and white while helping the JETS get to a LOMBARDI trophy.

No so fast!! He knew College Football really well, the draft and it's workings, maybe not the best. GH and I can give him a run for his money. I do miss Mr E's POV, even though he was harsh to a lot of posters. Mr E couldn't stand stupidity.
Well there’s been a number of reports saying that the Jets arent going to be selecting an offensive lineman in the early rounds, they have been said to have told Ducasse he will be competing for the starting spot, they didnt bring in any OLman during FA (especially pre-Tebow signing when we still had about 10 million in cap space). Yes, we might not have had enough for a RT, but from whats been said around here and in most places, they never really even sniffed around in free agency. IMO, the interest seems to be on the defensive side of the ball (OLB), when it comes to pick 16. You could also add in that we hired an OC that specializes on OL coaching and a large part of his job is to coach up who is currently on the roster and make due. I understand this could all be some very intricate smoke screen and we as fans do not know half of what goes on behind closed doors, but the vibes I am sensing, and many others, are that they arent going to be focusing on OL in the early rounds.
