It appears that the 10 players will make it to the top ten.

    Luck
    Griffin
    TRich
    Blackmon
    Claiborne
    Tanneyhill
    Ingram
    Cox
    Floyd
    Kalil

Not sure of the order but am confident of this 10.

Cox & Floyd are iffy. Ingram is boderline.

Richardson & Reiff need to be considered.

TRich is in there. I'm not a Reiff fan so I hope he makes that would someone else to the Jets.

When did Fletcher Cox become a top ten player? I'm not sure I'd put him in the top 20.

A number of mocks have him going to the Rams at #6 - which seems very unlikely.

That would be the worst pick of all time.

Was this a mock where only DTs were drafted?

It would mean a better player dropping to us... so I would be all for it

Luck, RGIII, Kalil, Blackmon, Claiborne, Richardson and Coples look like locks in the top 10. Tannehill is looking like the guy most likely to join that group right now with both Cleveland and Miami eye-balling him.

I think it's a crapshoot after that. Brockers and Floyd probably have the most talent of the remaining guys but they could easily fall to 14 (Brockers) and 16 (Floyd).

Guys who are dropping heavily right now include Upshaw and Reiff. Upshaw could fall to the late teens/early 20's easily and Reiff is probably going to go to the Eagles on 15 if he drops.

Coples is not getting past the Panthers pick on the 9. He's the best pure pass rusher in the draft, he's from NC and the comparisons he's drawing are to Julius Peppers. That's going to be their pick unless somebody from the top 6 prospects drops to them.

Heard on NFLN that also the Eagles are interested in Tannehill (might have scheduled him for a workout, if they haven't worked him out already).

its weird to see how quickly upshaws star is falling. it wouldnt be that surprising to see hightower go before him now

I'm hoping that if the Jets take Upshaw at 16 that it's because they have a really strong feel for how they're going to use him and that Rex thinks he can be a major star in the scheme.

I'm getting this sinking feeling lately that Upshaw is this year's Vernon Gholston: too much talent to ignore and too many questions attached to all that talent.

I'd hate for the Jets to take Upshaw because he dropped to them and they had nobody they thought was better but no clear idea of how things were going to work out with him.

Totally different questions though. The red flags for Gholston were the lack of production and quality tape. Upshaw had a very productive career and has underwhelmed during the workout phase. There's been busts that have had each of their issues and there have been starts that have had the same background. A lot depends on the scheme and I think Upshaw's best chance would be in a system like Rex's.

I feel like Upshaw is a safe pick. No way he busts like Gholston. He might not become the star we would hope for but he will be definitely be a solid starter somewhere. Upshaws questions were from his workouts which were subpar. His career was really good.

I've been watching a lot of the every play reels from Albama from the perspective of Upshaw, Barron and Hightower. What really stands out in them is how much the system aided the players. Everybody is guessing a lot and a few guys are cleaning up the messes. Upshaw and Barron are both among the guessers and Hightower is a cleaner.

Then you get the quotes from people about who the stars are and Hightower stands out as the best player on that defense by a lot. Barron is second and Upshaw is third. They even had a star system where they put stars up on the wall for great plays and the order they finished in that was Hightower, Barron, Upshaw.

I think Rex better know that Upshaw is going to be a star in his system before the Jets pull the trigger on him on the 16. Hightower may not be worth the 16 but it is going to be painful as hell watching him star for the Steelers or Ravens or Texans while Upshaw is a non-spectacular glue piece for the Jets.

David Harris is the non-spectacular glue piece already. The Jets need to find a great player to go next to him, not another glue guy.

Well for all his faults Rex is a great defensive mind and has a good idea for defensive talent back to his days with the Ravens so if he wants a guy then we should give him the benefit of the doubt :)

Yeah that's my thought too. If the Jets want to take Upshaw they need to know that Rex thinks he's going to be a star. Not in the way that he mouths off about players but actually believes the guy is going to be a star.

Upshaw is nothing like Gholston. I would think that would be obvious to most people.
