Taken from Today's ESPN.com/NewYork Cimini's Article The highlighted portions are of course, red meat for the grinder..
Burress wasnt a risk it was a hammie down from jail... But ya all other moves shows he wants to win or get the back page of the post
The article didn't say it was a risk, although it was loud and garnered headlines which reporters considered bold. I'd say it was a risk because no other team seemed to want to make a jackass ex-con an immediate starter. And it was an unsuccessful risk.
The Jets couldn't have used him properly because that would have meant he wasn't a starter and he doubtfully would have signed with them otherwise.
cimini is so lame, how the hell is that potentially alarming news for the jets? were gonna have a ton of cap space next year
I would love to see the salary cap cut in half. Every team would still have the exact same players and maybe ppl could afford to go to more than one game a year.
Wel wouldn't Bart and Pace probably be coming off the cap next year? Same with Hunter probably? Tanny might just need to work a little bit more magic with the numbers
As usual Cimini is talking out his ass..first and foremost he forgets that for every rookie you sign there is another player you have to cut..rookies will cost a little over two million at most.
That agreed upon percentage is total player compensation. If I remember correctly, there is a huge boost in payouts towards player benefits this year, so that doesn't leave any room to up the cap.
Best bet is that benefit costs are soaring and the benefits count under the 48% that players receive. Secondary concerns may be the disposition of settlements in the lawsuits. Not sure how those are accounted for in the 48/52 split.
