Rogers did miss a lot of wide open guy and the Packers were not at their best. But let's not forget that the officials did everything they could to keep Green Bay in that game. Both of GBs TDs came on drives made possible by bad calls (Jennings' non-fumble and a bullshit roughing the passer on Osi). If not for those calls the Packers get routed that game. The Giants played some great football that game and Green Bay didn't, but it's not like the Giants didn't have some adversity thrown their way from the zebras. Kyle Williams muffed one punt, the 2nd one he fumbled. People talk about Williams screwing up twice and point to that as the Giants getting lucky. Jacquian Williams forced a fumble in OT. I call that making a play, not getting lucky. Here's an interesting article (I'm actually debating making this it's own thread, but I'm too lazy to see if anyone else has done so already). Here's the article http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Articles/11_5322_Super_Bowl_Hangover_Pt._2%3A_From_Bradying_to_Welker.html It basically talks about how that play is one that Brady and Welker almost never attempt and one that Welker has shown he struggles with. It's also a pretty damning critique of Brady. I think you'll like it. Let me know if you think this is worth it's own thread. And luck is a part of every season. Hell, if the officials don't screw the Giants over and make the correct call on Jake Ballard's non-TD in the 1st NYG-GB game there isn't any need to sweep the Cowboys. For real though, let me know what you think of that article.
So if I'm reading you right, I shouldn't expect a gift basket from you this Easter? For real though, I am sorry about that. Check my post history and I think you'll see that's a departure from how I usually am.
If there was no form of luck or randomness in the game, then why would we watch? We could predict the winners before the season even started. These insane events, love them or hate them, make it that much more exciting to watch in my opinion. Giants may have been lucky in some aspects this season, but the team kept them in the game long enough for that luck to pay off at the right moments. By the same token, the Jets got lucky in making the playoffs in 2009 when Manning was benched in the final game of the season. Every team has their share of good and bad luck. The Giants hit a good run of luck at the right time, and they combined that with great play on the field to win themselves a Superbowl.
AAAWWWWWWHHHHH. Somebody is mad cuz his team screwed up last season! Screwed up this offseason, too, it seems! Get used to it, sweetpea. Enjoy your "dual shitty QB" system and the chants of "Tebow! Tebow! Tebow!" from the Tebots in the stands. That's what you have to look forward to, so enjoy!
Yeah, I've noticed that some posters start going after non-Jet fans when they're frustrated. Most don't, but some do. I think I get it worse as a Giants' fan (no offense to the Bills, but they aren't exactly threatening the Jets now) because of the whole "big brother, little brother" thing. I try not to antagonize (most of the time) because I'm not here to troll, but sometimes shit happens. So how do you think Buffalo looks for the up and coming season?
Why should they be humble? When/if the Jets win the SB I'm going to be the biggest dick in the history of sports fandom. To the victor go the spoils. Giants fans have every right to talk shit. And on that note, they can go fuck themselves. Fuck the Giants.
Just a quick counter to your Ballard comment, if one of the officials in the Cards game called the Giants WR fumble correctly and not purposely going down, we are back to square 1. Everyone, including myself, always remembers the calls that go against then the ones that go for you. I still complain to this day that Sanchez's are was going forward in the Pitt AFC Championship game and the Jets should only be down 17-0 going into halftime. That was not a fumble. Thank you for posting that article. It is nice to read and very in depth. I have been saying a lot recently that Brady has had trouble throwing the deep ball, but I didn't know it was this severe. I think ESPN had as stat after this last Super Bowl that in the last two super bowls, Brady was 0-13 on passes over 20+ yards in the air. You can even look at not the Welker play. Twice he had Branch wide open on a crossing route and he threw behind Branch and into the defender. He had trouble throwing to Branch on 4th and 13 against the Jets in the divisional game two years ago. He threw a TERRIBLE pass to a WR into double coverage against BAL. That might have been a mental than physical error. Brady has made a living on being one of the best short game passers ever. He has the touch and accuracy to get almost anything he wants if he has time underneath. But he has struggled lately with the long ball as the stats show. You tihnk it has anything to do with the injured leg? And the playoff stats are telling too. I would recommend turning the article into its own thread. I like reading indepth football articles
Agreed. I especially like how the faggot has the nerve to bring up officiating when the Giants were flat out handed a win by the officials that should've been a loss. There were at least 4 or 5 points during the season where one play or call would've derailed this awful teams playoff hopes and every break went the Giants way. Talk about sweeping the Cowboys some more too, when Romo missed a guy open by 20 yards at the end of the first game that would've ended the Giants season as well. As bad as FriendlyGiantsFan is though, at least he's got a stake in rooting for the Giants. Jets fans that are Giants apologists are the lowest form of life in the universe.
I too love Easter. I think we can agree on Easter being great and anything bad happening to New England being entertaining. There may be hope for us yet!
Careful dropping f-bombs like that. You don't want to get yourself a vacation (like right after the Super Bowl) again, do you? Seriously, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being extremely and 10 being Oprah's tampon, how unhappy are you?
I'll make this a thread tomorrow morning. Which forum do you think it should go in? I think Rex, Spagnuolo, and several other strong defensive-minded HCs are starting to see the weaknesses in Brady's game. The deep ball has been a problem that has plagued him for a while now. I don't know if you saw the NFL Network presentation "The Brady 6" but it mentions the negatives in his scouting report. 2 of them that stood out to me were "lacking in arm strength" and "lacks the ability to drive the ball down the field. It is not believed this can be fixed through technique." It also, IIRC, mentions him being very uncomfortable if having to move from a spot and throw. Considering his recent postseasons and his struggles therein, I think it's safe to say the league might be catching on to some of these weakness/the Pats aren't good enough to mask them anymore. Brady is still an amazing QB, but I think it's safe to say that he isn't the GOAT that many (New England) fans believe.
NFL forum, but make sure Junc doesn't see  I agree he does have trouble moving and throwing. At times if there is only one rusher and he can step up, he is fine. But if there multiple rushers, it goes to havoc. I mean same thing for most QB's but he does get skittish. You have seen it happen twice, but if you want to see some more NE misery, check out the Jets/Pats division round highlights. Multiple times Brady just flat out panicked and rushed throws throwing at feet or missing wide open targets. I do remember two throws deep throws that Brady had, one was the one against the Jets in 07 to Moss over 3 defenders. The other is Moss one handed but I think I could make that throw, thats how wide open he was. The deep ball is interesting, because he is so good everywhere else nobody notices it. I think the Steelers beat the Pats this year because they weren't scared of the deep ball. They played everyone tight, 1 vs 1 on the line and believed their front 4 could get pressure. It worked beautifully for them. I completely agree. I am not taking anything away from Brady, but he is limited. It's one of my beliefs why Peyton is the best passer. He makes throws everywhere that have my head hurting. And the one thing I can't get over is the way one Jets player said they showed Manning one coverage once all game, they break it out again and Manning tells his O line what each defender is doing. One way NE adjusted was getting Gronk and Hernandez. They provide such mismatches and size advantage that Brady has more leeway and area to miss where his receiver can still catch. The problem is, give him time someone gets open underneath. Blitz, he finds the mismatch and beats the coverage. If you pressure with the front 4, game over for him and mostly any QB in the league to be honest.
I can't sleep, so I just made the thread. I can't help but wonder if it's a lack of arm strength that limits Brady's throwing mobility. Many QBs can't make certain throws without setting their feet first because they lack the strength to throw just with their arm and need that additional torque. I think we've seen a number of teams (the Ravens, the Steelers, the Giants, & the Jets) beat the Patriots by not being afraid to get beat deep. Brady has the ability to throw the ball deep, but he doesn't do so with great accuracy or consistently good play. I agree that Manning is better than Brady because I think Peyton is the more complete player. I've seen him consistently complete throws of varying lengths against varying coverages with sooooo many different receivers and I do not believe Brady is capable of doing the same (specifically those deep routes). I think Gronk and Hernandez help stretch the field between the hashes (which is where Brady is best) and help add some variety to the strength of his game. It also gives the pass-happy Patriots a more physical element to their passing game than most. Anyway, the thread is up, so we'll have at it over there.
The whole postseason sucked, after the Giants beat the Jets it just felt like the Patriots-Giants rematch was bound to happen. I didnt want to admit it, but I saw all that shit coming and it was inevitable.
