Didn't see a thread for this http://www.cbssports.com/general/blog/rob-rang/18109211/jeffery-impresses-at-sc-pro-day "Jeffery weighed 213 pounds and was credited with 40-yard dash times of 4.50 and 4.48 and had a vertical jump of 36 1/2 inches and 10-2 broad jump. For a player whose explosiveness -- and ability to uncover from NFL-caliber press coverage -- and conditioning came under great scrutiny, Jeffery has served himself well by maintaining his weight for the past month since he last weighed in at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. "I feel like I have a lot to prove, and a lot to show to a lot of teams," he said at the Combine, where he weighed in at 216 pounds. An All-SEC receiver as a freshman, Jeffery said he played last season at 230 pounds. "I just feel more in shape and better," he said. "Better. Lighter." In the end, Jeffery said it won't be weight or speed that helps him cash pro paychecks, it'll be his hands. One player who stood out Wednesday was senior cornerback Marty Markett, a walk-on who earned a scholarship for his final season in Columbia after coming to the school on a track scholarship. Markett (5-10, 166) might have to earn his way to the NFL on special teams but he'll raise plenty of eyebrows with his 40 1/2-inch vertical and 10-10 broad jump Wednesday. According to South Carolina, shimmery speed numbers this afternoon would be no surprise. In 2008, he posted all-time bests of 10.41 and 21.18 in the 100 and 200-meters at the NCAA East Regional Championships and indoors, logged a season-best 6.79 60 meters."
Potential trade up if he's still there early round 2? I think Jeffery plays a bit faster than his 40 time... and there's no denying his size and great hands. Should be a very good NFL player someday.
Correct me if I am wrong, but Kendall Wright's official 40 was 4.42. Wright's claim to fame is that he is a burner, and a big time deep threat. Jeffery ran perfectly fine for a 6'3'' guy. Its an insane rarity for a guy to be Stephen Hill's size, and run like he does. Floyd ran a 4.47 and a 4.54 if memory serves. Should we not be drafting him either? Don't put too much stock in the numbers. Watch him play the game. Jeffery can ball. Thats what matters most.
He's still a second rounder. I actually think he'd fit in quite nicely with what the Jets need. He's tall, he can get vertical and he can attack the football.
This is exactly what I was going to post and say, in the 2nd I would trade up and get him or Doug Martin hands down. Both players would help this team. I kknow alot of people want Sanu in the 2nd but if Jeffery is there in the 2nd we need to jump up and get him...
Trading back and grabbing Stephen Hill or Alshon with one of our first two picks seems very tempting. If we had 4 picks in the first 3 rounds I'd love to double dip at LB with our 3rd rounder as well and grab an OL with the last pick. It would be awesome to grab someone that can play guard or kick out to RT so we could get more value out of them as well. That would be a great bounty for the draft imo and we'd still have what 7 picks leftover afterwards besides? If the scouting department really does their homework this year we could pretty much solve any questions of depth for the next few years in one fell swoop.
You're right but I don't see it happening. Jeffery will be drafted late 1st/early 2nd. Guy has tons of talent and will be a damn good player once he gets a real QB to throw him the ball and gets away from Spurrier and Garcia/Shaw.
