I dont know, if you think RGIII is a 9.8 and Luck a 9.5 you may still go for Luck as he is seen as the safer pick and so if it doesnt pan out you are less likely to get flamed as you went with the safe option.

if you take a "risk" with RG3 and it doesnt pan out then you are goign to get slaughtered.

might be nice to have that choice taken off your hands.

I agree you woud want someone to have the courage of their convictions but it's easier to do that when you are a fan with nothing at stake and a bit harder to do when it could be your very nice career on the line!

Not sure who called it a "perfect position". I simply said the Redskins have the "premier position" this year. And they do. Why do you think so many teams were in contact with the Rams for the second overall pick? It just happens to be the premier pick this year. Much like Rams, the Colts could have traded out of the spot and received a bounty of picks to surround their QB with. They didnt, they opted for drafting the new guy and now they have a tough choice on their hands.

Both QBs are seen as legit franchise guys, but the Colts have got to get this right. Thats not weak, thats not scared, its the reality. If Manning plays up to his former self in Denver many will question why the face of the franchise was let go when he could still contribute.

Whoever they select will be in competition with with the other 2 in the fans eyes. Thats not weak, its the reality of this franchise defining moment. Remember whoever they select is going to be seen as the guy who ran Peyton out. There is huge pressure to get this right.

The post right before my post that you quoted.

And the reason why #2 was being gone after is because the #1 pick is the perfect position!

Its the best pick, they pick first, they can pick any player they want before anyone else.

The Rams said they would be interestd in trading their #2 pick so they could get a shit ton in return, because they have no need for a Qb which is what the #1 and #2 picks stand for this year.

The Colts who believe it or not, do need a QB are not interested in tradfing out of #1, because they are already in perfect position.

#2 pick better than #1 lol, this is true comedy.

As stated before the only real advantage to the #2 is that you decision has been made for you. That is great for kids but this is a buisness and you definitely want to be in the driver seat whenever possible.

Irsay should have kept his mouth shut. Everybody knows Snyder will pay almost anything for a player he wants. Luck could feel unwanted by Irsay's comments and create some mayhem if the Colts select him.

Thats exactly the point. They ARE in the drivers seat and they first made the decision to not re-sign Manning. That is a huge decision alone. That is a decision that the Owner, GM, coaches and fan base are yet to judge. They made their decision, but it hasnt played out yet. Now they need to make sure they indeed get the best QB of the 3 or else they could face severe and real financial consequences from paying fans.

Perhaps you think I am implying #2 is always better than #1. Its not as simple as that, its not about having the sack to make the decision-LOL

This was a decision to not re-sign one of the best players in NFL history and now your decision better be right. The reason #2 is a better position this year is because not only will it be a smaller contract (slightly) but many teams see it as having equal value in this particular draft class. If you are one of the teams who have one QB ranked much higher than the other than of course you want that first pick. But apparently the Colts arent so sure. You can bet Jim Irsay is sweating in his boots now that reality set in and Peyton is not there.
