You can never trust these Clemson sack artists but Branch is great value in mid round 2. Might be a late 1st rounder, Rex Ryan is rumored to like him. Could be our guy if we trade down deep. Boys need help in applying pressure so Branch could make a nice tandem with Ware. Anthony Spencer has been a massive letdown.
Ta'amu is a good pick, an upgrade from their group of NTs, and should actually help them stop the run. Nice pick. Also, glad to here things are all good.
Good pick with Reyes Dub Dub. Really underrated, bogged down by a hyped up DT class, but he fits what the Eagles like at tackle. He'd be an excellent 34 end as well.
While I don't think he will be available this late, if he was, and we got an OLineman or Floyd, wed definitely be trading up for Branch. Im surprised you didn't take a certain CB who is still on the board or one of your favorite safties but the Branch pick is very cowboy like, flashy. He should kick Spencer out of the starting job next year.
If Branch went out, I would take you know who at S. Carr got signed big bucks at cornerback, will push Dallas need of a corner down a little bit IMO.
I think Reyes could get into the end of Rd 1 next month. Great motor and like you said, he's versatile on the line. I would love him on the Jets , but we addressed D-line last year with high picks.
Zeitler I considered for Dallas too. Thought we coulda gone safety Don't think we need a guard at this point unless you see Zeitler as a tackle.
Rob Ryan's D is free playing so Branch will get his shot in a 3rd down rusher role year 1 to do something. I am weary of these Clemson guys though, even if that sounds a little unfair.
I was nonetheless seriously considering Reyes for the Jets, but once again you took him right in front of me, making my life easier. Even though we went D-Line early last year, it'd still be nice to have Wilkerson and Reyes as bookend 3-4 ends for the foreseeable future, as I think Reyes would be an immediate upgrade for DeVito. However, I was still very happy to get Zeitler. He was BPA for me but also filled a depth at OL. I think we need an OT more than an OG, but Zeitler was too good to pass up at that spot; he'd probably already be an upgrade over Slauson and if we're going to be returning to the ground-and-pound, we need to have the strongest line possible. Also, this draft has made me think Tanny might be wise to try to move up in round 2 for a WR using all some of our many late picks, since at 47 it didn't seem like anyone was of particularly good value at that spot.
Understandably, my thought process just was that there is a CB who has some high value, not as much as Branch at that spot but good value for a need. Not questioning the pick, the value is excellent, just explaining my thinking.
Dont think id be a fan of Zeitler in the 2nd, the value just isnt there for me. Although I think OG is definitely one of the Jets bigger needs
Oh I don't disagree with your assessment JTJ, just the Boys might feel a Carr/Jenkins 1-2 CB duo is serviceable enough as opposed to their pass rush problem. Brockers should be a solid run stopper, and Branch if he plays up to capability is a weapon on 3rd down pass rushing.
The best safety prospects on the board are all SS, and after signing Landry I didn't feel that was too much of a need. Don't see Zeitler as a tackle but did see him as BPA at a position of need (O-Line) and better value than any of the tackles available.
Not sure how I would feel about the Zeitler pick... I dont think guard is an immediate need because of the blatant holes at WR, S RT and even RB, but it would provide great depth and the OL wouldnt lose a beat when Moore is replaced next year. I could come around to the pick, but I think other holes are too big to push them back again.
Zeitler might not be a popular pick but I love it, hes a monster in the run game, and he excelled in a pro style offense his whole career. He is strictly a Guard but he'd be an upgrade over Slauson. Anyone think Slauson can move to Tackle? I think he has the ability to play decently at the position.
Ill be honest when I say I think OG is a bigger need than RT, RB, and possibly even WR. Slauson isnt going to be 100% for quite some time after his surgery, Moore has had hip problems/older age, and Moores gonna be gone after this season with Slauson as an UFA. That said Zeitler just doesn't impress me, hes struggled vs superior talent And depending on how you see it he has experience playing Center (where we have arguably the best center in the nfl already), where I might prefer someone who has better versatility at the tackle position. Its not a terrible pick by any means, as im quite adamant for us drafting a guard this year. Hes just not the guy for me though
