He kept getting hurt, even made some solid tackles while hurt, but that's probably why no team wanted to trade for him. His business is getting violent with his body all day long and business is so good that he is breaking down.

Losing weight may help his speed, but it won't keep him healthy.

no team wants to trade for him because hes guaranteed $4.2 mill ... if he had an even remotely reasonable salary he would have been movable

Exactly. A big part of his speed could be from all the leg injuries he seemed to have. They were never serious enough to keep him out of the line up but he was running really poorly.

He needs to switch up his schtick, we read him like a book.

Bart is gone by April 7th

Well, if Rex says it, then it MUST be true.

That's exactly correct just like we were going to win the last 2 SBs. We all know now RR is just bluster & BS which means no SBs wins for years to come

I think Scott gets ripped too much on these boards. When he plays, he plays fine and holds his own. My only problem with him is he's a two down player now. Rex and Mike subbed him out on 3rd downs last year for speed perhaps (I'm sure this is why Rex wants him to get his weight down).

If he's only a 2 down player, then he's massively overpaid at his position.

If he did someone would have traded for him and we would have wanted to keep him. 4 million dollars is nothing in the NFL. But he doesn't. He's a one trick pony and at that salary he isn't worth it.

    Mauga > Bart.

I love Rex, but he lies about player's fates as much as he lies to his wife about his between meal snacking.

We could do worse than have Bart playing lib for another year.

He has a guaranteed contract so is untradable, but a new locker room and a go at play-off I am sure he can rekindle some powers from the past.

Thats thing that bothered me. If he loses weight. Losing weight may help with his quickness slightly but it wont make him faster. The Jets need an big speed upgrade on defense. LB'ers especially.

Damn his 4.2 million guranteed! Thats the only reason he is back.

From what I remember last year Bart was substituted a lot in pass coverage plays. It really hurt us in some games having to sub so much especially when playing against a hurry up offense. Opposing teams took advantage of that. But I think Bart is still a great player especially against the run. So I wouldn't mind at all if he's still on the roster. We do need to start looking at replacing him though.

Its not like they could trade or cut him so of course he'll be back. Tanny at least has learned his lesson about dead money but sadly perhaps not about guaranteed contracts.

I think I read somewhere this offseason that Tannenbaum said Schottenheimer will not be fired

Looks like I'm one of the few who wants Bart Scott on this team. He is a liability in coverage but still good on 1st and 2nd downs and can contribute on specials as well. I hope we keep him.
