I don't think Hightower gets by the Steelers at 24. They let Farrior go and they really want Worilds to replace Harrison next year with Woodley opposite him. That leaves a real gap in their linebacking corps and it's at a slot inside where they have had a pro bowl caliber player for a decade.
I think it's becoming more and more likely that this is the type of situation that we're going to be looking at. The more I look at it the more I think that the Cowboys are getting the steal of all steals with Brockers, or Coples if Brockers gets taken first. If that is going to happen we surely must consider upstaging them and stealing the guy out from under them. I think Brockers might do more for us, but Coples looks like he would be an extremely disruptive mofo if he was wearing Green and White too.
I think this scenario has Poe, Cox, and Brockers all going a little high. It's hard to see Martin and Kirkpatrick both sliding past #20... doubt that too many teams would take Glenn over Martin or Gilmore over Kirkpatrick. If the draft shakes out like this, though, I would be very happy. Floyd should be #3 on our big board IMO, behind Ingram and DeCastro. Although it would be hard to pass on Martin and Glenn here.
I'm not feeling Floyd...I'd rather have Hill. His size and speed makes him more of a threat. Having said that, I think Hightower, Barron or even Upshaw would be a better fit for a defense that desperately needs speed.
I think Floyd is well below 3rd on our board to be honest. I think I'd rather have Brockers, Coples, Kuechly, probably Reiff and Upshaw and possibly even some combination of Martin/Glenn/Adams. like 9th or 10th maybe?
Great pick and I would be ectastic though I wonder if we'd go WR considering we're a run first team. Floyd is a better player than Hill and would be better in this offense since he is getting there into becoming a very sound blocking WR on the outside, which is a must in this offense.
It also doesn't make sense if we can get 90% of the receiver in Jeffrey/Hill/Randel/Sanu/whoever for 40% of the draft pick value if we wish.
I'm not feeling the WR on the first round pick. This draft is deep with WR and we should defer that need for a later round. Michael Floyd is good, but we have bigger needs, like PASS RUSH or O-Line!!
Alternatively, after seeing the "value" for the Julio Jones pick last year, a potentially elite WR falling into our laps should be taken with both hands.
Continuous Probability. The coin landed on tails last time, therefore it will definitely be tails this time!
I love the idea of drafting Floyd 16th, if he ends up being a legit top 10 reciever If he doesnt then i hate the pick
I really like Floyd, but if Jonathan Martin is available and we take him, we're really in for it. We can't hope to accomplish anything next season until we replace Wayne Hunter with a viable long term option. -X-
