yes and in 2004, daunte culpepper put up some of the greatest numbers ever. there is still a long, long list of qbs that are better than him.

a lot of his numbers were put up on prevent defenses because the broncos would be down so early in the game. just watch orton play. this is a guy who has lost his job to tim tebow and rex grossman.

    let that marinate.

    I admit I was a Bronco fan.

I found Tebow’s work ethic and will to win as great as any NFL player ever. However, you must be naive to think that Elway supported the kid with the defensive, O line, running back and receiver tools to win let alone risk Tim challenging the Elway mystique in Denver. Contrast that with the collection of support John is now assembling that will even make Calib Haney a superstar if/when Manning goes down.

Factor in the always get stuffed on a run on first down play calling and Tim was left with 2 downs to keep every drive alive!

Excuses aside, I just compared all the Tebow and Sanchez stats for 2011 and they were not that much different. With both young QB’s having another year of NFL maturity and Tebow not frustrating his coaching staff's focus on the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, I look for the Jets to have a very good year at quarterback.

Forget the Party Line talk, there will be a battle at QB resolved by Mr. Ryan, not the fans. I don’t know Mark’s work ethic but Tim will be at the door when it opens and won’t leave until the guards chase him out with a stack of DVD’s under his arm. Don’t expect him to leave at noon to give Mark a fair chance. Mr. T wants Mark pushed and it will happen to the max.

That said Tebow is a gamer and practices terribly so Mark should be handily in front coming out of training camp.

Steven A Smith suggested that Tim has a little problem with some of his passes so Tim did off season training with coach Mazzone of UCLA. However, in a recent podcast Mazzone didn’t offer any glowing reports on Tim’s progress. I’m sure that Mark spent his off season as well doing more than escorting pretty girls.

I make no predictions whether the taq team concept is feasible or just a preseason facade. So let the fun begin.

Why are people still on Orton's jock? The guy has never won anything, let alone been able to keep a starting job. You can nitpick numbers back and forth all day but who cares. Orton is not going to be a Jet and it's pretty much universally agreed that Sanchez needs to improve significantly - not really much to argue about.

The two things that King John and Prince Timmy had in common were horrible early career stats and an ability to inspire everyone around them to perform at a higher level. Every QB, all 10, between them that started a game as Bronco quarterback when not on the field sat on the end of the bench and sulked. Both off the field and in the locker room both men made their expectations of other players loudly known and then set the example.

Timmy plays ugly but he lays it all out and expects every other player to do so as well. That is the intangible that Tebow brings. I am totally unfamiliar with Mark’s skill set in this regard and would hope he is not cut in the mold of the 10.

Actually if you count Sanchez 6 rushing tds last year Sanchez has a total of 32 tds.

Sanchez surpasses Orton as the better stat QB.

Sanchez had the 3rd worst RT in the nfl blocking for him last year. When his oline is fixed he will be a 30+ tds QB . I mean passing

Lets not forget Orton was suppose to be more NFL ready than Sanchez bcus Sanchez only started one full season in college.

This is the kind of nonsense you can look forward to Jets fans. Excuses about everything and blame for everyone except Tebow.

This so-called Bronco fan - who never rooted for the team until Tebow arrived - basically lying through his teeth.

A brief recap of how John Elway supported THE BRONCOS, not necessarily this poster's personal hero. You know, seeing how football is actually a team game.

Elway took over a 4-12 disaster from Josh McDaniels. The only guy in the NFL who would have burned a first round pick on a project quarterback like Tebow, you know, the guy who just got dealt for a couple Day Two draft picks.

First, John convinced free agent CB Champ Bailey to return to the team when everybody thought for sure Champ would want to go to a contender for a last shot at the Super Bowl. Champ's respect for Elway and his belief John could turn the franchise around made him resign in Denver.

Second, Elway selected the DROY Von Miller, basically the next Derrick Thomas, when everybody in the League and every draft noodnick was telling him he had to take the DT Marcel Dareus.

Third, he hired an actual grown up to coach the team in John Fox.

I guess John is so concerned about his mystique in Denver he decided to bring in a no-name like Peyton Manning this year. The assertion that Elway cared about Tebow's legion of clueless fans is the kind of delusional thinking these people specialize in sharing with the world.

Elway's problem with Tebow was simple: he's incapable of running a pro style offense. The one game we tried it, the Lions were laughing at the Christian as they devoured him. That was the game that inspired the infamous "Tebow <" thread on ESPN. We installed the option and allowed Tebow input on the plays he could run effectively to accommodate him.

Don't try and blame the Brandon Lloyd trade on Elway. Lloyd, a free agent to be, felt his market value would be diminished playing for a quarterback who struggled with the forward pass. We sent him packing to be with his pal McDaniels in St Louis and put guys on the field who wanted to play.

I've heard Tebow fans complain the Broncos held back Tebow's development by not letting him run a conventional offense all season. I again direct your attention to Detroit 45 Denver 10 as the reason why this is laughable.

Pay attention to these kind of posts, Jet fans. The Tebowites will never accept any of their idol's shortcomings and will throw any and everybody under the bus to explain away his failures.

I liked Tim and I was hoping the best for him. I was very disappointed to see him lie about snubbing his home town fans to seek the big endorsement money in New York, but his two marketing agencies are primarily concerned about Tebow the Brand, not Tebow the player.

I wish your team plenty of luck in dealing with his divisive, dishonest and utterly ridiculous traveling fan base.

This has been my problem with the Tebow fans. Admitting your favorite player has flaws doesn't mean you don't like or the team he plays for.
I can admit Sanchez had a poor year caring for the ball last year and I know he is partly the blame and so his is line, OC, and WR's. You see the same type of reaction from the few Sanchez lovers/haters. Some will not put any blame on Sanchez whatsoever, which is what these new Tebow fans do. Other few that hate Sanchez will put all the blame on Sanchez on nothing else with the team.

Eventually I thought this boards got very good and the Sanchez topics were going away because everyone made their points and there was a lot more news on free agents, Sparano and his system, other players, etc. THEN Tebow came along and his following and excuses are raining down from everywhere.

I read a funny article, that was in jest, the other day saying maybe the Jets franchise got Tebow so the current fans would rally around Sanchez. Because a lot of Jets fans who weren't high on Sanchez are defending him strongly now that people are trying to say Tebow is better. The brought a more polarizing figure than Sanchez, and all of a sudden a lot of people who disliked Sanchez are supporting him from the influx of Tebowmania

For all the retards in here thinking there will be a qb controversy because of fan reaction you are wrong. There will only be one if Rex wants there to be one. If and I say big if Mark takes better care of the ball Tebow will be carrying his jock.

Because Orton was available in FA this year, he would have been an improvement over Sanchez, and instead of getting him the Jets extended Sanchez's contract and brought in Tebow.

In short it is a wonderful dream compared to the nightmare we are actually living in. That's why.

Sanchez is consistently ranked in the top 25 qbs but ratings do not matter. Playoff wins do.

Orton is on to his 4th team in 4 years. Any Jet fan that thinks they would have been in a better situation with Orton is fooling themselves.

Sanchez and Tebow will make for some interesteing and likely emmotional drama thats for sure, but I would take that drama over Ortons lethargic and nonchalant approach anyday.

Sanchez is ranked #25 is qb ratings. I would take the 25th ranked qb over a higher rated qb anyday. Just because Mark had a better defense he got the wins in the playoffs. Mark is going to have a season like ELI did in year 4. It is NOW TIME.

I thought all this time that you were campaigning to bring him in as a backup. You really wanted the 2012 Jets to have Kyle Orton as their starting QB?

Ftr, I would have gotten him and let there be a real Qb competition in camp. If Sanchez won it on the merits, so be it. And of Orton won it, I would assume Sanchez Fans would be fine with that.

(Is my sarcasm any more to your liking?)

Ftr, only the last sentence of the above paragraph is smh.

So are you telling me culpepper is a better quarterback than every qb who can't match his single season total?

    Numbers don't tell you everything.

Have you ever watched orton play or are you basing this strictly on numbers?

Way to defend orton losing his job by saying sanchez had no competition..

this is the fantasy football culture, people judge using only #s and don't take into consideration when or how they accumulated them. Anyone who thinks Orton is as good as Sanchez doesn't watch the games, they only read the boxscores.
