Instead of letting Brad Smith go and later signing Tebow to get back to what we had in Brad Smith, why didn't we just keep Brad Smith in the first place? If the offense with Smith, who sparked the team in crucial games with big plays, was a success, why didn't we just continue to move forward with him? It isn't as if it went against Rex's offensive philosophy. Seems ass-backwards to me.
Did we really need another thread about this? Even if you're right, this has been discussed 99000 times since we signed the overrated p.o.s. Tebow's 40 time vs Smith's 40 time is also no comparison, and a lot of those great plays were as simple as Smith running it for 10-20 yards around the corner.
Megatron 1000000000000x > Holmes But Holmes works for the jets. Same with Brad Smith. Just because a player may have a higher upside doesn't mean you disassemble a successful team to try and fit the new piece in. If it aint broke, don't fix it.
brad smith doesn't work for the jets. tebow is not replacing brad smith. trading away a 4th is not disassembling a team. 8-8 was not successful.
. our forum was dominated by these tebow threads. amoderator should probably merge them or let people know to stick to a certain thread if they want to talk tebow or variations of that.
I miss Brad Smith, I was at that Thanksgiving game when Smith had the KR touchdown and the Wildcat touchdown. The Jets need someone like that and hopefully that man is Tebow.
why would the Jets let Favre go, who then led the Vikings to the NFCCG, and trade up to draft Sanchez, who led them to the AFCCG, when they could have just kept Favre and made it to the AFCCG? I wonder how many versions of this bad argument we can make? go!
you know what the difference is? brad smith was a FANTASTIC special teams player brad smith was a less than average wr and was not the backup qb, we could have had a real backup qb when brad smith was here. however tebow will fit perfectly into the woody johnson plan of being the greatest circus in town. were not getting any back page material with brad smith on the team.
I thought the difference was that Tebow is under a rookie contract, fills a NEED as a #2 QB, is a legit threat to throw the ball out of the wildcat, and forces Sanchez to step the fuck up. Not to mention were gonna end up getting a 5th or 6th compensatory draft pick this year for letting Smith go, which helps make up for trading away a 4th for Tebow. Im not a fan of the trade, but as long as Sanchez can handle the pressure it should work out in our favor
:rofl2this. a real backup qb? sorry, but if sanchez goes down.. i would rather play tebow ball than have stanton try to lead this team to victory. brad smith's contributions on special teams are not missed. sorry. yeah, he was great while here.. but mcknight filled in admirably. and even when smith missed time in 2010, cro did fine. obviously, cro is an idiot while returning kicks but still. no one was begging for the days of brad smith returning kicks last year. now we got a guy who has the potential to add more to the offense than smith. what is the real downside here? are people embarrassed that we're a "circus" to the rest of the league? because that shit wasn't a big deal when people fell in love with the underdog us against the world routine in a couple years back. people have been laughing at our qb for 3 years. but now that people are going to laugh at tebow, it's no longer acceptable? come on.
he was as important covering kicks as he was running them back. i was referring to when smith was here not now. he did not eat up a backup qb spot, tebow does.
if we were counting on drew stanton to save this team we were probably pretty screwed anyways. do you think we would be worse with Tebow back there than Stanton? at least they kept mcelroy who has potential.
So no one believes what Tanny has said about Tim being their wildcat specialist? You are assuming that Tebow is only a backup QB and occasional change of pace addition?
By "Holmes works for the jets", do you mean he's an employee for the Jets, or are you saying his production is working good for us?
we still don't need him to be covering kicks. it's not eating up a backup qb spot. tebow is a backup qb. brad smith + backup qb = 2 spots. tebow = 1. i think it is safe to assume that tebow will play a bigger role and have more of an impact on offense than brad smith.
no one knows what tebow is going to be. i bet even tanny doesn't know. but as for now, wildcat is a change of pace addition to the offense..
