If the Jets run a 3-4 then I can see a MLB being drafting but not first round. If they run a 4-3 then there is no point, the Jets have a solid backup in Mauga. (I can't remember if the Jets run a 4-3 or 3-4 lol.)
I like Kuechly a lot. Hightower, too. But did we not learn anything last year? DON'T PUT SO MANY ASSETS INTO MIDDLE LINEBACKER! For the love of God, we are already paying Harris a king's ransom, we shouldn't have to use up a 1st round pick to go with an MLB to play next to him, that's just a stupid way to manage assets. It was one thing to draft Kyle Wilson. Rex runs a ton of 3 CB sets, Cromartie was an FA after the year, and he was great value. Kuechly would be good value, but there will be other options there.
I dont care how much you like ingram, there is no way we trade up to 7 for him. We are not trading up in this draft. The only player that should be considered if we want to trade up is T Rich and that is only if he drops to around 10, and if he drops that far, I dont see anyone in front of us picking him.
Question. Besides the combine why do you like Ingram? It baffles me why people just drool over Ingram so I want to hear it from someone who would trade up to 7 for him.
In pass rushing terms... Mercilus is better than Ingram who is better than Upshaw. I'm more of a Mercilus fan; I don't think Ingram will be a stud pass rusher, but he will be a solid one and he is a pretty safe pick. Upshaw will give about as much of a pass rush as Calvin Pace. He is an all down player, but I really would rather just have a guy who is already a terrific pass rusher and can be molded into an all-down player. No reason to trade up with a pass rushing class like this year. Por ejemplo: Whitney Mercilus
I would like to trade down as there are about 8 players I would be happy with at #16 and so if a good opportunity to move back to the early 20's came along I would be all for it - though that doesnt seem to fit the Jets modus operandi.
The Jets should trade down. All of the top pass rushers will be gone by #16. If you look at McShay's board, the top defensive players will be gone before #16. Tannenbaum was at Clemson's pro day. Andre Branch. He is supposed to go somewhere in the 20's. DE who can also play OLB in a 3-4. Swinney said several teams have asked him about Branch's ability to play the traditional defensive end spot and if he could cover as an outside linebacker in 3-4 and 4-3 defenses. Of the teams represented at Clemson's Thursday Pro Day, the New York Jets sent head coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum. http://rob-rang.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/13682485/35141771
There will be good value at #16. Only way i trade down is just a few spots & then immediately taking those picks and our 2nd to trade back into the first. Grab 2 impact players to fill holes & still have a moderate amount of picks left to fill in depth across the roster. Possible co first round picks could be: 1A. Hightower/Floyd/Mercilus/Kuechele/Decastro 1B. Randle/Branch/Upshaw/Barron
If up Georgia offensive lineman Cordy Glenn (RT) or OLB Courtney Upshaw from Alabama (played 3/4) aren't there, I agree to move down rather than draft BPA or reach on Barren at #16.
I think you should post in another forum (bullshit), or better yet another site. I have no patience for idiotic posts in the draft forum.
