+1....it's all talk. We don't know who is going to be available at #16. One thing I'm fairly certain, a player no one expects to drop will be available, it happens every year.
Jets need an OLB who can pass rush Mercilus smells like a bust Coples won't transfer to OLB I think Perry and Branch can transfer to OLB Ingram and Upshaw are both OLBs who can pass rush they make the most sense. Upshaw is solid at run stopping. And Ingram's versatility is a plus. If they get a WR or RT at 16th then they could look to an OLB in the second round although it would be harder to find who can be tough in pass rush.
Honestly at this point I keep going back to Upshaw, Ingram, and Perry. Branch hasn't impressed me, doesn't play violent enough. Upshaw never gets pushed out of position, is savage against the run, and is a pretty good pass rusher to boot. He's an every down linebacker who can start from day one, exactly what we need. Having said that, if Floyd drops to 16 I think we need to take him no matter who else is on the board.
Agreed. It seems like most of the top LB prospects have their question marks. Floyd and DeCastro, on the other hand, will be able to give us exactly what we need right away (vertical/red zone threat and O-Line versatility, respectively). I really think that if we can't get Floyd, Richardson, Ingram, or DeCastro at 16 we need to trade down. There's no need to force a pick when teams will be trying to move up to get their guys.
