Root for the jersey regardless of the players. I hate Florida and never liked Tebow but Im rooting like hell that he plays well for us. I hated Jason Taylor for a decade but when he came here I loved seeing him sack Brady and Henne. Hate Tebow all you want but you know when he runs that first TD into the endzone you will all be on one knee doing the Tebow. While I didn't really want him in NY, Im not finding it too hard to look on the bright side. Our Offense lacked leadership and desire and this guy is the definition of it.

People are worried about a media circus? Look around. What the fuck has been going on already can it really be any worse?

Demaryius Thomas was a first round pick. Eric Decker was a 3rd round pick. Eddie Royal has been a pretty good receiver in the NFL. Why do people act like he was throwing to a bunch of UDFA linemen?

Can we just take a look at what we have "given up" for Tebow?
Really? Is our history of drafting 4th round picks like these so illustrious that Tebow isn't a better choice? I think some of you are overvaluing some of these draft picks that are being traded around...

Time to break some stuff down.

The Pats defense was bad. It wasn't shocking to see Joe Flacco walk down the field on them like there was no defense. It wasn't shocking to see Manning carve it up on a late second drive, twice in one season. That defense only knew how to play with a lead, that is it. They were a bad defense that succeeded because they could rely on being up 10-14 points.

Simple logic dictate if your offense doesn't turn the ball over, and gives you a lead, the other team has to throw to get back in it. You then can play the pass and just keep everything in front of you because you know they need multiple scores. That is why the Pats defense was bad, they could only play with the lead and struggled otherwise. Everyone knew it was bad. Same as the Saints defense was bad and Green Bays.

Offense can also dictate how long the defense is on the field. Brady could put together drives of 7-8 minutes keeping his defense off the field. You overlook all of this and starting yelling out insults at everyone. You argue that nobody is looking at both sides of a coin but you are only looking at one.

Terry Bradshaw won in the 70s. To even suggest the game is remotely the same as it was in the 70s is ridiculous. Also, Bradshaw is a MVP winner too.

To even suggest luck was not involved is ridiculous. Marion Barber not going down in bounds to end the game, then Marion Barber deciding to fight for extra yards and not go down is what then? It was luck because it gave Tebow, not one but two extra chances to win the game. Oh and on the first chance he left his FG kicker a 59 yarder! to kick. Pretty lucky he splits the uprights since percentages say he probably shouldn't be making that with such accuracy and power. Oh and then to follow up that 59 yarder, he kicked a 51 yarder to win it. But that win is all on Tebow?

Sorry, Tebow was a part of the wins, but that is it a part. He is so inconsistent, and again passer rating is a flawed statistic. So is yards per attempt or whatever you suggesting. Tebow would throw less than 20 passes a game, but they were always deep passes. They couldn't rely on Tebow to complete short passes on a consistent basis.

There are many football reasons people think Tebow has little to no upside. His lack of throwing ability, his lack of consistency, his lack of accuracy on short and medium passes, his lack of ability of calling/reading defenses, he has run first attitude, the 3 game losing streak to end the season, the games where he put up less than 20 points and won, his performance in NE the biggest stage he faced are just some of the reasons.

    Good post.

Tim Tebow isn't going to shift the tectonic plates underneath the Jets organization. He's a shimmer - not a wave and certainly not a tsunami.

^ agreed. You can tell the whole time watching this that there is some kind of over-dramatization going on. It's all for entertainment. That being said, I love seeing skip and stephen go at it about Tebow

the problem is that getting Tebow isn't at three-ring circus by itself, it is simply the Jets acquiring a football player. what makes it a three ring circus is the media making a big deal out of it and the fans making a big deal out of it; and especially when either or both give credence to ridiculous speculation and non-stories like a backup QB wanting to be a starter which is likely the case with most backups on every team.

that is what you are doing, so if it is a three-ring circus it is because of your own contribution to that. you can't complain about something you are contributing to.

actually the Oline WAS good - but only at RUN BLOCKING, when it came to pass blocking, both Tebow and Orton were running for their lives back there, the BIG difference was Orton would crumble in the pocket and take the easy sack, and tebow would scramble out

now that scramble progressed throughout the year, early in the year he would just take off running, later in the year he would run out of the pocket and look down field

the RB position was a joke - McGahee was good (when healthy) which was off an on, Knowshon is done - he can't do it, and the FB was the only one staying healthy all year, but he's not a RB but a FB so how useful can that be

the Broncos traded Lloyd as soon as Tebow took over - which was their best WR

then you had Decker (who probably wouldn't start on any other NFL team and Demarius Thomas - who was actually the No 1 pick of the Broncos in that Tebow draft - he had been hurt for almost two years before then)

so yeah, some of what Skip says actually has merrit because he was working with sub-par talent around him and still the broncos were pulling out victories

It is all fake. They do all the arguing and yelling just to get viewers. Stephen A Smith has basketball and only that slightly. Skip just takes the most polarizing point and goes with that.

I don't watch them because they are terrible. They are so much smarter than what they show on that show. When you listen to them on interviews or outside of 1st and 10, they are much more reasonable and have real arguments that make sense.

And in the defenses of those losses, Tebow wasn't the only QB that threw multiple interceptions against those "bad teams. Against the Bills, Brady threw 4.

And Kansas City arguably ended up with one of the best defenses in the NFL. They were ALSO the team who beat the UNDEFEATED Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay. Yeah...

And Brady put up a rating of 57.5 a week after Tebow's bad rating, in a win, btw.

Yes, Tim had bad games. So do other QB's. Even the best.

What I find hilarious is that if you use this message board as a sample size... then despite the fact that there is a popular opinion that everyone will be calling for Tebow after an interception... probably about 80% of the people here hate the move. So, if speculating that 80% of Jets fans weren't in favor of Tebow then where are these overwhelming calls for Tebow going to come from? Is it going to be the Tebow haters who call for Tebow just to fulfill their own self loathing?

skip bayless is trying to make a career off riding tebows dick. Ever since he randomly endorsed him and he turned out to be right he's been taking this to the bank every chance he gets.

I find it hilarious how everyone complained that Mark had it too easy. We need a real backup QB who will threaten his job and make him work and compete harder.

OK we get Tebow the definition of what we were asking for and everyone complains that its going to hurt his confidence.

Why do people continue to want us to baby him. He plays well with pressure so lets put the pressure on him. If Mark doesn't come out this year a new man then he is hopeless.

Tebow does play like a Jet and he is a natural leader, thats why we got him. Rex and co. must really be low on Sanchez's ability to lead the team. I really hope Sanchez has a monster year like most, but its gonna be hard for him to play good with constant pressure. Its hard to do ANY job when you have somebody breathing down your neck waiting to take it from you...

Jets really should end this all now and make Tebow #25 or something... lol......

Brady played Buffalo when they were hot and healthy. He also still put up a reasonable amount of points with the 4 picks.

Tebow played the Bills on a slide and not healthy and did not put his team in the game.

Just because the Chiefs beat GB means nothing. The Jets beats the Chiefs handedly, does that mean they would crush GB, no. The Chiefs only allowed 3 points one other time all season, and that was to the Bears. Every other team they played before then put up at least 10 points. So that is not inexcusable.
