His quotes from Mike and Mike (via PFT)

Wednesday night, Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum was insistent that Tim Tebow’s role with the Jets was going to be that of a backup quarterback who can run the Wildcat.

The mantra Tannenbaum kept repeating was that every team in the league needs a backup quarterback and that’s what they were going after when they made the deal for Tebow. In an appearance on ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike Thursday morning, however, Tannenbaum sang a slightly different tune when it came to Mark Sanchez’s job security. Tannenbaum was asked about his vision for how much the team will use Tebow packages.

“If our offense is sputtering and we have, say, three three-and-outs and we roll this out there and it’s successful, who knows?”

That’s what we’ve seen from several teams since Tony Sparano broke out the Wildcat in Miami and it isn’t a situation that creates much in the way of a quarterback controversy. That’s not what Tannenbaum outlined during the radio interview, though.

What he’s suggesting is a much more fluid situation that could start with Sanchez and end with Tebow in any given week. Replacing an ineffective Sanchez isn’t a problem in and of itself — the Jets could have used another option last season — but having weekly referendums on the starting quarterback job isn’t going to do much to lessen the circus-like atmosphere around the Jets.

yeah, it's almost like the FO has had a much different discussion amongst themselves and have a standard canned line for the media and Tanny let some of that slip

You can tell when Tannenbaum is lying...He struggles to finish his sentences and says "you know" like 5 times in that span

While Gailey wanted to win, he knew he wasn't going to the Super Bowl. He did have to deal with some WR issues and overall he improved the Bills a lot from the previous season. I think the lack of Brad Smith's potential being exploited was more of trying to get the rest of the team functioning better as a unit. In order for the WC to work the offense has to be able to support it. I don't think Gailey was as comfortable with some positions performance as he wanted to be. Therefore risking Brad Smith at that time wasn't a good idea to Gailey.

Gailey sent a huge message to the Bills last year when he benched Stevie Johnson. He's building a team that will compete and this year they could surprise some teams.

Have you ever seen Tebow throw a football? Smith throws a better ball. He's a better passer than the ducks that Tebow throws. This really shouldn't even be debateable.

Tebow competed 66% in college at over 9 ypa, over 4 years. Smith 56% for just under 6 YPA.

It's more a question of what you are asking him to do.

    Smith

    TSquared

And give the guy a break...He came in as a second year player, took over a 1-4 team, and made it to the playoffs.
And not a Rookie from a pro style offense. I'd say a two time national champion, and heisman trophy winner, should have some upside in adapting to the pro game. It's irrational to hate on him for having it thrust on him with no time to develop.

That's great but I asked why Smith hasn't thrown it much? you blamed our OC so why did he only throw it once last year?

He sucks Hobbes. He's the worst thrower of the football I've ever seen in a QB. Make him a RB - then fine. But to put him behind Sanchez on the depth chart is asinine. This move was done for Jersey and Ticket sales and will not make this team better.

How would I know what the Bills were doing offensively. Smith throws the ball better than Tebow. That's the debate and its undebateable.

We should just add more colors to our jerseys so we can really look like the clowns we are. Philly sent a fourth rounder and swapped picks for Demeco Ryans; we did the same shit for a slap dick bit player.

I don't doubt that, tebow can't throw(though he shredded Pitt in the WC game) but obviously Bard's teams do not trust him to throw in games and tebow has much more experience passing the football in games.

Well, let me play Devils advocate here. And I do not like the Tebow trade.

But who do you mean when you NO ONE talked about the wildcat as a way to improve our offense? The people on this site? We're all retards on this site. Who cares that no one here mentioned it.

95% of you hated Schotty. Soooo, you got Wildcat boy. And apparently, Rex, who 95% of you love ( and I hate) loves the fuckin wildcat too.

So the powers that be, Tanny, Rex and whomever else think adding ( bringing back really) the wildcat is a good idea and will help our offense.
