Why do I keep hearing Tebow is such a winner and Sanchez isn't? Sanchez is 4-2 in the playoffs, Tebow is 1-1. Neither has a ring.

I hate to agree, but I do - that was ridiculous. Tebow will definitely be a positive force in the locker room, as long as everybody accepts their role.

If you want class and secrecy go root for the Patriots. Cromartie is extremely valuable to this team and supported his starting Quarterback. Besides, your boy will jus forgive Cro anyways, who cares?

This is exactly why I think it's a terrible fit. The attitude and mentality is ridiculous. It's not about secrecy. It's about respect, discipline, accountability and knowing your role.

It's like me getting in my boss's business on hiring other employer and making public statements. It's not my place, your place, or AC's place to spout of his opinion in public about these manners.

It doesn't serve the team. It's not his role. And with that type of attitude it's ridiculous to expect anyone to come in and be a "role player". He's being paid to play for the Jets and serve the Jets' best interest. Not to run his mouth on ESPN.

That's the day and age we live in. Cromartie isn't the only NFL player spouting off on Twitter.

I actually like that perception of the franchise. I like the fuck you attitude Rex brought here. For two years the team went far enough to avoid media backlash, last year we paid the price with media exaggeration and microanalysis. Success wipes it all away, but now all we'll hear is how Teblow brought the kliq closer together, when in reality they were never apart.

Tell me, why has Sanchez and Holmes been visiting each other all offseason if they hate each other?

There's no leadership nor accountability on the Jets right now. It starts from the top: coaches, GM, ownership. They allowed this team to do and say whatever they feel like, without repercussion and consequences. The result is an out of control, underachieving, incohesive team with a bunch of egos left unchecked.

When I watched and heard Tennebaum say that Cromartie "can say whatever he wants" during the interview tonight on SNY, it showed me everything there is to know about this Jets team.

I don't think Tebow can be the sole cure for this dysfunctional team, but he sure can help.

I'm not going to get into the dynamics of the Jets. If you are happy with it, that's fine.

Just wanted to share my opinion on the Tebow deal and let you know not all Tebow fans are happy or retarded. Some of us are simply put in bad situations by the powers that be.

PS: Sanchez fans need to get over it. Competition for a starting position exists on every NFL team and is very much necessary. If Brady himself starts stinking it up for a full season, and starts another half a season with stinkers, not even he is exempt from being replaced. The only good thing that may come out of this is we may see a baseball like approach to football with a starter and closer, and that might not be such a bad thing and may go on to change the landscape of the NFL. Too many starting QB's who suck get to keep their position for far too long and continue stinking it up just because they are "starters". And too many people freak out and can't even fathom the idea of a QB being subbed in for a game or a quarter when he's head is not in it and "because of what it means". This could change the NFL for the better as we know it. No reason why 52 other men should have to suffer because one guy decides not to play on a particular Sunday. But all that remains to be seen.

Nobody was calling the team dysfunctional after they beat Manning and Brady back to back on the road. Success will cure everything, this team was going to surprise people without Tebow.

And glad to know you're not happy about being here either, maybe you should grow a set, pick a team and stick with it instead of flopping around every two years. You know this ain't Timmy's last stop.

I will support Tebow no matter what simply because he will be in green and white next year. I have come to the realization that I am not the GM of this team and my opinion is irrelevant. I am a fan of the Jets if they are terrible or the best team in the league. Complaining about the moves they make in the off season never changes who I root for when week 1 rolls around. I dont see the point in freaking out and saying how "screwed" we are all off season. You are a JETS fan expect the worst and hope for the best, if you haven't learned that by now I truly feel sorry for you.

    End Rant,

    Johnny,

You proved my exact point, everyone that supports Mark says he made it to back to back AFCCG's. It doesnt matter that the Bronoc's scored more/less under Tebow and that the Denver D played better. The bottom line is that Tebow went 7-4 and won in the playoffs.

If we can make that argument with Mark then we need to make the same one with Tebow.

Agree, except about the starter/closer part, that's just weird man. When word came out a couple days ago about the Jets being interested in BJGE no one on this board said "but what about Shonn Greene's feelings?!". However with Sanchez, even this board gives him kid gloves?

I really, really hate to bring this up because I detest everything about the Patriots but there was a "franchise" QB that was replaced in our division 11 years ago. Mo Lewis knocked Drew Bledsoe out of a game, and the Patriots placed an unknown kid in called Tom Brady in to start the next game. He didn't play that spectacularly: and 86, 85, and 85 QB ratings in his first three years, but Bill Belicheck recognized that they were winning games and kept with him. What does all this mean? Well nothing really, except that you always, ALWAYS go with the guy that is going to give you the best chance of winning, and don't worry about the feelings, or franchise anointments.

I have no idea whether Tim or Mark is the best guy for this team, because we have 0 evidence of them both working with the same tools, however I refuse to accept that we need to coddle one or the other. If you get us the best chance of winning (none of us know this until the training camp/preseason, and even then we are just guessing because we don't see half the practices) then you should start. I do not care if it is Tim Tebow, Mark Sanchez, or Drew F@#$@$ Stanton, if they show they are the best person to win with this team they are who we need starting. Everyone making wild conjecture now is baseless and stupid.

Ok, to digress from the love/hate battle for a second and to get to the football side, now that we only paid half of the money that Denver advanced him does anybody have any knowledge at how this will effect the cap? Even with only half it should reduce our hit with him significantly over the next three years.

I should have known this guy would have it updated already.

lookls like 1.5 mil this year..13 and 14 don't mean anything as listed because they are based on him playing 40% of the snaps I read a couple of days ago.

    embarrassed

I was watching NFL network yesterday during this Tebow trade and they were talking about how all the other teams read the contract and knew of the 5 mil clause except the JETS. I felt embarrassed at that point for my team.

I think it was Casterly who said this was a major blunder that falls squarely on the GM. I am by no means an expert, so who knows maybe it was a ploy by the FO. But it just seemed like we were a team with no clue yesterday.

Finally an article (on ESPN of all places) that actually talks about Tebow's value to the Jets. A few excerpts below.

"Tim Tebow is a better football player than Drew Stanton, a better backup quarterback for the New York Jets, and so the Jets cut a smart deal with the Denver Broncos even after a long day of looking so hopelessly dumb.

It doesn't matter. This trade costing the Jets a fourth-rounder and a swap of later-round picks isn't about selling PSLs at MetLife Stadium or peddling Tebow jerseys on the Web or stealing headlines away from the Super Bowl champions down the hall.

Tim Tebow is an upgrade over Drew Stanton at backup quarterback.
And no, this trade isn't about asking Tebow to heal a fractured locker room, either. Does the anonymous source who lobbed that one out there really believe Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes will remain committed BFFs because the second-string quarterback with the first-string conscience tells them to?

Whatever. Ol' Woody can afford to cover the bill. Tebow will make the Jets a better team on any given Sunday or Monday night, and the fact that Antonio Cromartie kept tweeting otherwise only serves as irrefutable proof.

The Jets absolutely made the right call by sitting out the chase for Peyton Manning, and not only because Peyton would rather watch Andrew Luck win the Super Bowl in New Orleans than play for Rex Ryan in Eli Manning's backyard. At 25, Sanchez is much younger and healthier than Peyton. He's also a quarterback who won four more playoff games in his first three seasons than Peyton won in his.

If Sanchez stays upright, Tebow would offer a dimension off the bench that would complicate things for opposing defenses. Tony Sparano, offensive coordinator, is a founding father of the Wildcat formation, making him the right guy to get the most out of a specialist like Tebow.

That's what Tebow is -- a specialist, the world's most famous role player. There's nothing wrong with that.

Tebow brings a rare physicality to his position. When Sanchez runs toward daylight, it looks like he'd rather be doing almost anything else, even booking a two-week Caribbean cruise with Holmes. Sanchez is athletic enough to escape the pocket and throw accurately on the move, but he's not a threat to do any downfield damage with his feet.

But competition brings out the best in winners, and Sanchez is a winning quarterback who could use a small dose of Tebow-Mania to reach what ballplayers are forever calling the next level.

In the end, the Jets are reducing this to a pure football decision. They want to run the ball, and Tebow can run the ball. He can play a little quarterback, maybe a little H-back, as Sparano has the system to accommodate his talents and limitations.

So forget the sales of tickets and merchandise and the forecasted faith healing in the locker room, and understand the essence of the deal. Tim Tebow is a good football player, and the 2011 Jets definitely didn't have enough of those."

For what purpose? To cause controversy? To lose more games than they did last year? They have gotten plenty of attention in the last 24 hours, is that what you think they were after?
