Good question. Tannenbaum's and Rex's answer would probably be "they can't say enough good things about E. Smith" and that he's one of the "many Victor Cruzes" they've assembled on this roster.
That is the assumption I'm working under. Not suggesting we cut him and figure out who to replace him with after. Just saying I would be trying to get an extra starter and then get a backup to fill smith's role. If his 2M salary is needed to make it happen, I'm getting rid of him real quick.
I don't know, but he seemed to be the biggest culprit on alot of plays, and some of them were pretty costly. I at least say he shouldn't be a starter, and that means he should take a pay cut, if not get cut.
I think he would make a great special teams player, much more so than a starter. Oh well, I'm not the coach, lol.
I know this for certain! Eric Smith will be a New York Jet for the 2011 2012 season. He is the most beloved Safety that we have ever had and produces nothing but heartache. I will never understand the devotion the organization show this guy while they tell other more skilled players take it or leave it.
