Apparently he was given the option: Jets or Jags. Why did he, with the possibility of having a starting job in Florida (of all places), choose us (with a QB hooked with $20.5 million)? Is he not confident in his ability to start? Does he want a relatively more "successful" team? or did the Jets management convince him to do so? How? Thoughts?
As goofy as the Jet FO is, he probably figured his chances of starting here are better than even over the next year or two. All he has to do is wait for a Sanchez fck up and he's in there.
Chris Mortensen said that the Jets sold him on their plan to use him in any # of packages, and he probably thinks if things go bad with Sanchez he has a legitimate chance at the starting job. In Jacksonville they just drafted a 1st round qb last season, they just signed Chad Henne, and there are rumors Khan wants to take the team out of Jacksonville anyway.
Correct. The Jags have Gabbert and Henne...And I dont think the Jags have given up on Gabbert... Your team has Sanchez and he is flakey and Tebow knows that Sanchez is gonna get flustered with increased pressure and thus could see some action...
He shot those rumors down. TO move to LA, the owner has to give up a huge chunk of the team (30-40%) AND give the LA stadium people a very favorable concessions/parking/ticket deal... He even said it won't happen. Mort is an idiot. He should listen to the owner.
I really think it had more to do with the fact that the Jets seemed to actually want him whereas the Jags felt obligated because of their geographical location to try and trade for him. And if I were him, I would bet on our starting QB job opening up before the Jaguars. Gabbert has a free pass for at least one more year, and then he also has to go through Henne as well and out perform them both. Sanchez is already on the hot seat, if he doesn't improve this season, Tebow will get a shot and Tebow knows it.
The Broncos said that Tebow was NOT given the chance to select his team, they did what was in their best interest. There was another reason that he was traded to the Jets, namely, John Wrongway didn't want Tebow to come back and haunt him and felt there was less of a chance with the Jets since he won't be the starter.
maybe he likes winning. plus, beating out stanton for #2 is probably easier than beating out gabbert/henne because the jags are more invested in those guys.
Tebow had a better chance of starting for the Jags. They would not bring him in not to start or be given every opportunity to win the job.
Because he realizes Mike Francesa is the anti-Christ so he will do everything in his power to defeat him.
I disagree, with Mularkey as coach I think he desperately wants a conventional QB in Henne or Gabbert to do well, Tebow wouldn't get a shot until at least the 2013 season
Correct but then the Denver papers reported that this was NOT true and in fact the Broncos were going to do what was best for them and not Tebow.
If you get Tebow and your owner is a huge fan of him selling tickets to make money and your in Jacksonville, then Tebow is your guy.
